We are a family of four traveling to Disneyland from John Wayne airport. We are staying at the Park Vue and just doing DIsneyland, so we don't need transportation during our vacation. In the past, we have just taken a cab to and from the airport. Is this still the most inexpensive option???

Good to know about the cab! We were not impressed with Super Shuttle this time around. The vans were dirty and both had ripped seats. Nasty. :sad2:

Probably. Most options are discussed here:

We used the Disneyland Express on our trip a couple of weeks ago and I have always enjoyed this service although it cost a smidge more than a cab. Although I don't know this for sure. I printed off the $5 off coupons off of the Orange County website and used one for each of us - 2adults, 2 kids. It cost us $42 each way - so a total of $84 return. We were at our hotel (Park Vue Inn) in about 20mins. I like that I don't have to worry about a thing, just get on the big bus and get off of the big bus!!:rotfl:

A shuttle is usually less expensive than a cab. Try Prime Time Shuttle. Super Shuttle is a national chain and customer service is hit and miss. Prime Time is a smaller local company and they do a nice job.

a couple of quick question : what's the cost of taking a cab from SNA/John wayne to the HOJO, i had read it was a flat rate wasn't sure if this was true or not.

And what are the chances of getting a minivan for a taxicab ? just want to make sure the 4 of us fit comfortably.

If your kids are old enough to not need car seats, a cab. Otherwise, do Disneyland Resort Express so you don't have to bring seats!

We used the Disneyland Express last month and it was great. We did not want to bring a car seat so we really had no choice but I enjoyed it and they were on time.

I found the same 5$ coupon for the Disneyland Express but if you book online there isn't a place I can see to redeem it so how do you actually use the coupon when booking?

Also, is it 5$ off the roundtrip price? It looks like it but I wanted to be sure.

You can't use it to book online.:mad:But I emailed them to find out how I could use it and they told me just to print off the coupons and take them with me to the airport. When I board the bus, give it to the attendant. I then became a little worried about not booking our spots on the bus and was afraid that we would end up being stuck at the airport with no transportation!! But, I threw caution to the wind -which I never do:eek: - And did what they told me to do. I then got an email about a week later from them telling me that they don't take reservations from SNA anyway because they never fill the bus as it is a smaller airport with less traffic so even if I wanted to book reservations I couldn't. I found that weird as they offer to book online but again - throwing caution to the wind - I went with it! When we got there (it was our first time at this airport) we grabbed our luggage, headed outside to the boulevard where the big magical bus was waiting. We told the driver where we wanted to go -Park Vue Inn - there was an attendant in a booth right there asking for our fare, I gave her the coupons and told her 4 one way tickets, we paid and got on the bus.:woohoo:easy! I printed off 2 sets of coupons, one for going and one for returning. The day before I left I called their 1-800 number and told them that I would need the bus at my hotel on Friday:sad1:, they asked what airport I needed, what time I wanted to be there and then they told me that the bus comes hourly to pick up at my location. I told her what time we would board. The bus came about 15mins late BUT we were flying international and were very early for our flight anyways...but there were some people not happy as they were going to LAX which is a much farther drive. We then took the bus to the DL Hotel, and switched buses to go to SNA. There the attendant took our fare, and the other coupons and we paid him, got on the bus and were at the airport in about 25mins. It was really great - easy and a short ride!:goodvibes

interesting, So, are you saying that the people heading to LAX were on a bus with you?

Yes they were. They pick up everyone that needs the DLE from their hotels then they go to the DL Hotel and everyone who is going to LAX stay on this bus and everyone headed to SNA get off and board another bus which is waiting for you. Once everyone is off the first bus, it heads to LAX.

On a side note, you must be Canadian - Hab fan!!

Yup, next door to ya, in S'katchewan..
I may just have to investigate getting on one of them van shuttles instead of the big bus on our departure.
I hate buses that drive around and pick up many folks and then getting off the bus and waiting again for luggage ;-) we're leaving out of LAX but flying into SNA (just due to travel plans) so we'll either cab it or shuttle from SNA to the Hojo.

Oh that's great to hear. I saw a lot of comments that people walked right on but seeing the online booking option made me thing 'booking means it's going to be there'.:lmao: I hate throwing caution to the wind when it means getting to or from a strange location.

So id you find it was cheaper to use two one-way tickets with a coupon each time versus a round trip ticket? I was going to do round trip (and thus I assume use the coupon only once) but if it's cheaper two ones ways -5$ each way I might do that instead.

Side note: Also from Canada, but I'm more east in Ontario. :rotfl:

Yay!!! Love meeting Canadians on the board!! Have a great trip Habfan!!!

Ya know Saylan, I thought I was getting a great deal with the coupons but realized after it was only a marginal saving. I think online - correct me if I'm wrong but they offer a $88 family rate. That would mean plus tax as well which I think is somewhere in the 8.5%. I paid $42 (tax included) for 2 adults,2 kids. So it was a bit of a savings - which its better the money is in my pocket than in theirs - but for some reason when I figured it out at home, I thought I would save more. I know, weird right. Maybe they charge more per person when you are there then with the $5 off it wasn't that great of a savings??? I don't know and honestly, I didn't ask any questions as there were many people there and it was a little rushed and busy. Hope that helps! :)

I tried doing the math and came out with this:

One way:
(17 - 5) x 2 = 24/person
27 - 5 = 22/person

Does this look right?

I know if you book online it's a 2$ savings so 25. We're only two adults so we won't be using a family discount (unless someone wants to loan us some kids?)

I wonder how round trip tickets work if you aren't leaving for a few days.

I would definitely agree that Prime Time Shuttle is the way to go. I use them a lot especially when I'm traveling with a lot of luggage. They should be the same price if not cheaper than a taxi.

We went in June and ended up booking a stretch limo from Limos.com

A bunch of limo companies give you quotes but we booked with socal limo. They were ontime, convenient, and affordable.

It cost us $80 total for 4 people. Plenty of room for the luggage and they provided water and soft drinks. It isn't something we would normally do but they kids thought it was a pretty cool treat.

IMO if its just the 2 of you, I would consider taking a cab. Its just as cheap and faster. If your looking at about $50 for the 2 of you, I have read here on the board that a cab ride from SNA is about $40-$45. You may want to look into it. Round trip simply works by Southern Gray Lines giving you a voucher that you then give the driver on the return trip. Very simple. Have a great trip!:)
