We are staying at a FW cabin starting next Friday. We are DL vets on our first trip to WDW. We know the importance of getting to the park gates early before park opening. We will not have a car, but will rent a golf cart. I have been gathering info on transportation from FW to the parks, and feel like I have a pretty good handle. Aside from MK, we will probably try to catch a bus at 7:45-8:00AM each morning (we will be avoiding EMH parks, and will have a few sleep-in mornings planned).

I understand the best way to MK is from the FW boat launch, but this will not start until 8:30. I would like to be at the park gates at 8:30. So we will need to go either to the TTC or another MK resort hotel for alternate transportation.

What would be our options, and what time should to we need to leave to achieve those options? Thanks.

If it is an EMH morning the boats will be running early for that. As for being there at 8:30 if the park opens at 9 the boats should start running early enough. I have never been to DL so I don't know, but at WDW you can get in the MK and wonder around Mainstreet until the official opening time. Things involving transportation to and from FW seem to change on a whim so always ask and be as specific as possible, check park hours and most importantly relax and have fun.

There is a bus (orange route I think) that goes to WL and a bus from there to MK as well. Never trust the sign on the front of the bus when trying to get out to WL(sometimes they forget to change them) always ask the driver and tell them you final destination they may be able to tell you a faster route

The blue flagged launches begin operation at 7:00 AM. Take a blue flagged launch from FW to the Contemporary and then walk or take the monorail to MK (walking is faster). There should be a launch about every 20 minutes, the trip to Contemporary takes 7 minutes, the walk from the Contemporary dock to MK turnstiles takes 10 minutes. If you do not have breakfast reservations in the MK you won't be allowed in until scheduled park opening.

Thanks, it sounds like the Contemporary option may be our best bet.

So do you think that it would be faster/easier to take the boat to the Contemporary and then transfer to a bus to get to the other parks? (or in the case of Epcot, hop on the monorail?)

I know my kids are going to be thrilled at the prospect of taking a boat anywhere - they'd much rather hop on a boat than hop on a bus.

It's much, much faster taking the boat to either the Contemporary or MK than it is to take a bus. From Contemporary you can take the monorail to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot. The only time you would absolutely have to take a bus would be to AK, but even then I would take the boat over to Contemporary, hop on the monorail to TTC and catch the bus to AK from there. They seem to run much faster than the buses at FW. As you can tell I much prefer boats to buses any day. ;)
