and then back to mco. We will be staying at a non disney hotel and are looking for good transportation suggestions. We have 5 adults plus a a 2 year old who will need a car seat . We’ve investigated car rental options ( both one way drop offs and just keeping it for a week) and it’s pretty expensive by the time we either add parking or because of the one way drop premiym. Suggestions on a good company would be appreciated

Thanks very much

Because so many people do a one-way rental between Disney and the port, you should be able to find one that doesn't have a one-way drop fee. Since you're staying in the Disney springs area, Avis has a counter at the Hilton, so that might be convenient to your hotel. The car care center, close to the Magic Kingdom, has an Alamo and national counter.

Generally I've found that one way rentals in Florida don't have the one way drop off fee. We used Avis a few years ago for a one way rental from the port to MCO.

Do you have a Costco membership?
Last year we rented through Costco for a car from Port Canaveral to our home near Ft. Lauderdale and it was around $50 total. You can probably do even better since, its only an hour drive to the port.
It was through Budget Rental Car.

I just did a test for our upcoming Oasis cruise just so I had firm dates. Avis is $188 to PC and $90 back to MCO, both one-way rentals. A van transfer for your number of people is about $400ish from Happy Limo, plus tip. Looks like renting might be the most economical, though it would involve trying to get everybody on an Avis shuttle both ways (or at least one person taking the shuttle after drop off morning of embarkation and before picking up everybody else on disembarkation). Keep in mind that my dates involved travel on the morning of New Year's Eve Eve.

We drive to the port so just asking, but would the OP be able to use DCL transportation on the back end? That way they can do the one way rental to port and since going straight to MCO after just jump on the bus after the cruise.

Yes, you can book only one way on the DCL transfers, if that works best for you.

Yep. You can purchase one-way only transfers.

Once again, @PrincessShmoo just beat me! :P

You can, but that would be *much* more expensive than renting a car, based on the numbers I pulled. More than twice as expensive. I can't remember if they charge for a 2-year-old, but 5 people would be $175, based on $35 a person. I guess it really depends on how much your time is worth. I'm usually more for convenience than time spent saving a buck, so I'd be more likely to do the bus transfer if I was flying. But if it was down to saving $90 and that mattered a lot to me, I'd be up for the inconvenience of shuttles and driving.

2 year olds are free.

But I didn't ask a question. I just said I couldn't remember and ultimately it was irrelevant because of the price difference.
OK, I was just reminding you that 2 year olds are free. Others may be interested in that info.

Sorry if you felt I was rude. That wasn't my intent.

Have you looked at private transfers using a car service? Many have good options for vehicles that would work for you and car seats are an option. Do some searching. I’ve arranged private transfers for groups up to 17. ;)
