Hi Everyone,

We are staying at a Disney Resort next October. We have gone to US several times before but we always drove from a Disney resort. This time around, we won't have a car. Is there a shuttle form Disney property to Universal?

Will rely on your expert advise.

Many thanks.

Only ten months to go!! :cool1:

how many is we? If you have more than two people it will cost you more than a one day car rental. You can rent a car for probably 40. dollar for a twenty-four hour period. I am not sure but I think mears will cost between 17-27 dollars a person. www.budget.com only requires a debit card, 200 dollar hold on credit card or 25 percent of the rental which ever is higher. There is a budget in the doubletree in downtown disney area.

:wave2: Hi, we took Mears last year and they pick you up out front of your hotel. No complaints. However, this year because there is more of us we're going with Florida tours. Check out their price too! Good luck :flower:

Just back and went to Universal twice. Very easy to get to. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge. The day before, we called Mears to arrange a time. We were given a few options (8:15am, 9:15am, etc...) We just gave our name and number in our party.

The next morning, the big mears bus (full size bus - bigger than the local disney buses) pulls up right on time. We were the first ones on the bus. $14 a person, cash or travellers checks. (altough the driver wasn't able give change for the $28 transaction from $40. Ended up giving him $30 instead. I would recommend you have exact cash in case it would be a problem) From WL, we stopped at 2 more places (Poly and Port Orleans) and then went to US. Total time was probably 45 - 50 minutes or so.

When you pay the driver, he will give you a return voucher. You need it to return. You can either schedule a time when you first call to reserve it, or you can call from the park. (number is on the voucher) In our case, the park closed at 6:00pm. We ate dinner at 6:15. We called right when we were seated and were given the option of being picked up at 7:30 or 8:30. We chose 8:30 for a nice relaxing dinner. A van picked us up in the same place we were dropped off.

The next day, my wife felt ill, but we dicided to go to US at the last minute. Because it was last minute, we didn't call Mears, but took a taxi. From WL to US, about $40 each way. Much more expensive, but also much quicker and didn't have to worry about any schedule (which was good because we left earlier than anticipated)

we have used www.tiffanytowncar.com for the last 3 years without any problems! its $60 roundtrip ( with the $5 printable coupon on the website ) and they pick you up and work around your schedual, unlike mears. :D I noticed you are going in October! are you guys going to Universals Halloween Horror nights?

I read somewhere that you could use the Orlando City bus for like 1.50 a person one way. Does anyone know anything about this. We thought we might go using this and come back in a taxi.

So Mears was $14.00 for round trip. That is a lot cheaper than I expected. Of course there is 5 of use so that would be 70 dollars not much cheaper than a taxi.

any more suggestions I could also use some. We go in February

I'd skip the city bus if I were you as it takes almost 2 hours to get to Universal from Disney. It takes you to downtown Orlando where you have to change buses. Not ideal!

Thanks. I think we will do Mears. We have a 5 and 6 year old with us and want to take the less stressful way out.

Dumby~

You could still use tiffany towncar service and it would come out to $65 roundtrip ( this includes the $5 off coupon, but not the 20% tip ) I promise this is ALOT easier than mears. And mears still expects you to tip them the 20% so that is expected regardless who you choose.

All you do is call them in advance like you would mears, but instead of them telling you what times you have to choose from you tell them what time you would like to be picked up. And if your return time is up in the air just give them an estimated time for pick up and state that you would like to call when you are ready. I have even been able to call and tell our drive that the midnight pickup from WDW was going to be too early and made arrangements to be picked up at 2:15 am!! Without any problems or bad attitudes from the driver. Ofcourse, you could use any towncar service you like but I have found that tiffany is the most accomidating. :) ( this past oct we chartered the stretch H2 from happy limo and our driver was about 20 mins late :(, so even if you dont choose tiffany i strongly advise against happy limo.
