Transportation from AKL

I booked a great Fl. Resident rate at the AKL. We've stayed at WL, Contemporary and Poly. Now I'm worried we'll have a hard time getting to and from the parks from AKL. Anyone have any opinions?

Transportation to & from AKL is far superior to WL due to the fact that AKL has deicated bus service (no other hotels in the loop). we have stayed there 4 times and it has been nothing short of great. We stayed at WL once & thought the Resort was great, but transportation was lacking...

We've stayed at AKL three times now and have never had a problem with transportation. It does take some time to get to some of the further away parks, but the service is quite efficient. We usually have a car but there have been several times we hardly used it there as it was just as easy to grab a bus!

Are you going to be using the Disney busses, or driving around yourself? We just returned from the AKL last week and it is the most perfect place! We loved it to pieces, and I don't feel like traveling on the AKL busses was difficult at all. We have stayed at the All Stars, Fort Wilderness Cabins, Port Orleans and several others and the only difference is the drive is just a bit longer, but there are no other stops. At the other resorts you may have to stop and go many times to hit your bus stop, at AKL it is just the main entrance and you are there. The busses ran very efficiently, and never had to wait very long.

If you have never stayed there, you are in for a treat!

We were there in early December--during the 100 Years of Magic Press kickoff. The place was sold out full, and we had no problems with transportation. It was great!

We were there in January (marathon weekend - we weren't there for the marathon ). The transportation was great! We didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes for a bus.

Enjoy your vacation at AKL! It is a beautiful resort.

Traveling to The Studios, EPCOT, or Downtown Disney is not bad at all. As with all bus transportation it just depends on how 'lucky' you are - ie does the bus you want show up in 1 minute or 10 minutes . The time it takes to get to those locations is modest.

But traveling to the MK will take 15-20 minutes at least (plus the bus wait time).

It is handy to not have to share bus space with another resort though. There were always plenty of seats - other than the evening that everybody at AKL decided to go all at once to MVMCP (at 6:00pm . I KNEW I should have had 5pm reservations at Chef Mickey's that night!

the AKL busses were emptier and came faster than at BWI and Y&B (both places that we have stayed in before and love). AKL is practically perfect in all ways...
