We are arriving in Anaheim (at the JW airport) on a Friday afternoon in April. I notice on GAT (getawaytoday.com) that you can prepurchase transfers from the airport to the hotel. Is this necessary?

We are staying at the Grand Californian. Does the hotel have its own shuttle to and from the airport?

If you want to ride in style, try the Disneyland Expess Bus, by Grey Line. We used them from DL to LAX. It was a relaxing ride.

No, the Grand Californian does not have it's own shuttle. We have always used Super Shuttle and liked it--I think it's $7 per person. We also just took a taxi once from JW and it was around $35 one-way from the airport to the GCH, around $42 from the hotel back to the airport, not including tip. So Super Shuttle is cheaper for our family of 4. We have also found that SS always drops off the GCH first, so it was very fast.

We flew in and out of JW the last time we were at DL. We prebooked our transfer from GAT. It is the Disneyland Express shuttle. It stops at the DL hotels first, so you won't have to ride to the other hotels that other people would be staying at.

Disneyland Express is a bus, run by Grayline. Only a bus. :)

According to the pdf I saved, it's $25 roundtrip to/from John Wayne Airport for an adult. You can get a discount if you book online.

Go here: http://graylineanaheim.com/ and it's under Airport Transfers.

A shuttle van I've used is Super Shuttle. $10 per person over 3 per way. I have the Entertainment Book, and got $4 off my roundtrip with the coupon from that book.

Thank you Molly for the Disneyland Express web site. I just called Costco Travel this morning to inquire about adding a transfer to our package and our total was $100. Online it will be $76! That's a big difference and way better than a taxi. Now we will be riding in style :)

We're going March 24th-28th for the first time-- hubby, 3 daughters and I have never been to Disneyland. Also staying at the Grand Californian. For a special treat, I used my own "splurge money" to book us a stretch limousine from John Wayne to the hotel! It's a surprise. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces! The last time hubby and I rode in a limo, it was for my 21st birthday, when we'd been dating just a few months! (and that's 22 years ago now!) It is costing $95. each way plus tip, but soooo worth it, to get off the plane, sip a glass of champagne (included, plus soft drinks for the kids) and relax while being driven door to door.

I also am surprising them with reserved seating for Fantasmic!

Man, good thing my husband doesn't like to surf discussion boards like me, this wouldn't stay a secret!

Sounds great! Let us know how the limo company was, etc. I wonder how much it would be to head to LAX?
