Transportation Dilemna

Here is our issue.

After our stay at Disney we will be heading to the beach. We will use DME from the airport to POR, but I am trying to figure out the best way to get from POR to a rental car place.

I was trying to figure out the specifics with 4 kids, luggage, car seats, etc.

Should I take a bus to DTD and walk to a rental car facility?
Should I take a taxi-van to MCO and rent from there?
Can I rent a car from an off-site location and return it to MCO?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

You can rent from Alamo from either the Dolphin or the Car Care Center and I believe they have a shuttle to pick you up. I think one of the DTD hotels has a car rental desk from another company.

In the past we have rented from National at Dolphin (you can take a bus to MGM and walk over) and returned to MCO without a problem. I have also rented from Dollar at Hotel near DTD and returned to MCO...I take a bus to DTD and walk.

Dollar is at the Grosvenor which is right across the street from the DTD Marketplace bus stops and as stated by a previous poster Alamo/National are at the car acre center which will pick you up or at the Swan/Dolphin (take a bus from any of the parks or walk from Epcots International Gateway.

None of those charge an additional fee for dropping off at MCO. If it was me I would send 1 parent for the rental car while the other one stays with the kids at the hotel and then after you get the car go back and pick up the crew.

A van back to MCO would be a hassle for all and expensive. I have not been able to get decent rental rates at the Car Care Center or Swan/Dolphin (although a lot of other people on these boards seem to), however I did get a good rate at Dollar in the Grosvenor (and to save $120 I can walk across the street from the Marketplace).
