Transportation between resorts?

We need to add a night to our stay (the first night) and POR has no other nights available. So... We are thinking of staying at Pop Century for one night. The main problem is transportation.... how do we get to POR with all of our luggage from Pop Century? We are two adults and two little kids. Thanks! :)

The magic of disney!

Bell services will coordinate moving your bags (assuming you've packed them ;)) between resorts- all you need to is ask.

Thanks for your reply? So we wouldn't be transported, just our bags, and then we would take the regular Disney transportation to the transportation center and take another bus to POR? Thanks!

The Transportation & Ticket Center wouldn't be involved.

You would simply take the bus in the morning from Pop to wherever you're spending the first day, and take the bus from there home to POR in the evening.

If you want to go directly from one resort to another, you would transfer buses at an open theme park. From Pop to POR, DHS would provide the most direct route. But you'd be arriving before your bags, and your room probably wouldn't be ready, so there's not much point.

If you want to arrive with your bags, your only choice is to take a cab. When I change resorts, I just leave my bags with bell services, ask them to transport them to my next resort. Then I just head off to one of the parks, I stay until late afternoon, when I certain the room will be ready and then head over to my new resort, and get settled in.
Keep in mind when Disney transports your luggage, it generally does not arrive until after 1:00. My experience has been anywhere between 1:00 and 3:00

You have two choices...
1. use a cab, and keep your bags with you, going from Pop to POR.
or...
2. hand your bags to Luggage Assistence at Pop early in the morning. Then, head off to a park for a few hours. Head to POR whenever you feel like it. I usually head to my 'next' resort around lunchtime. Then, you can get checked in, grab a bite to eat, and maybe have a swim if the room isn't ready yet. Or, just head off to a park for the afternoon if the room isn't ready. You will get a text telling you what your room number is when it's ready. You can then head back to the resort if you wish, or just hang at the park...whatever you choose.

But, you must realize that your bags aren't going to get to you until well past 5pm!!! So, if you are going to want to swim or change your clothes, take that stuff with you, rather than leave it in your bags.

Just to follow up on the cab option... Do you know what sort of cars are used for the cabs? We would need to be able to fit two adults, two kids and lots of luggage... :)

If you think you'll have too much luggage for the regular taxis, you can request a taxi van. The fares are the same for both, and both are usually ready & waiting at the resorts.

And don't forget to keep checking to see if that first night becomes available at POR. Availability changes constantly.

Hope you have a fantastic trip!

How do you handle getting your park tickets and dining package?

I'm considering doing the same thing from AoA to POR, but figured I must go to POR to get my tickets with dining before going to a park, whether or not my room would be ready. Those who are going to a park first, do you already have your tickets?

I assume the PP just has a room only reservation for the 2nd part.

Hmm, Her post indicated that she was adding one night at pop to the beginning of her trip, which I'm guessing they would probably have their tickets attached to their second portion at por.

I do not do the dining plan, and I have an annual pass so I do not need to worry about either that. I just head off to a park.

If the second part of the trip is a package she can pick them up early. I think the procedure is explained the the ticket sticky on the theme parks board.

It's also possible that she purchased tickets separately.

Ok, I guess it will only work if I didn't want my dining credits then. I'm assuming if I,m picking up my tickets at the park, I would only get my tickets and have to pay for food , so it just makes sense to go to the resort so I get both tickets and dining. Got it.

I think you would need to speak with guest services to activate your tickets. I almost had to do one night because there was no availability at the Polynesian to extend my stay at the beginning of my trip. I believe I was told to go to guest services...it would have to be separate card for each ticket, rather than being on the room key.

If the OP needs her dining credits, they will have to go to resort #2 and check-in. Getting tickets in some other way at the park really doesn't make sense if you need them on your check-in day and especially if you need your dining credits. Getting tickets at the park is really a procedure people do when they need their tickets prior to check-in day (up to 3 days is allowed).

Since we have a car, we usually just either (1) give our luggage to bell services and drive to resort #2 and check in or (2) take our own luggage and go to resort #2 and check in. We have done this numerous times and still made rope drop at a park when that was our intention. We just make sure to get up early. Check in at 7 AM or 8 AM should be a breeze - there shouldn't be anyone there. And if you're lucky, sometimes it's possible that your room is even ready. That's happened to us a few times, although it's not the norm.
