I never knew everything I didn't know until I found the DIS :disrocks: All I know is a bus will take me From Pop to where I want to go and I can Monorail between MK and Epcot...correct? But there are other ways around and if I am just overlooking where to locate that info point in the right direction please. I know there are boats...but, seriously, that's all I know. I don't know where they come from or where they go to. Is there anything else I am missing. This is our first trip as a family, DD's (3) first trip, and I would like to make it extra special.

TIA!

From Epcot you can take a boat to MGM and also the other way around. To get to the boat at Epcot you will use the World Showcase entrance/exit to the park back by the UK and France sections of World Showcase, there you will see the boat loading dock. It will make some resort stops along the way, but is a great ride over to MGM, where it will drop you off fairly close to the entrance. :wave2:

Not quite. You can take a direct monorail from MK or EPCOT to the TTC. But you will have to make a transfer from monorail to monorail at the TTC to complete the trip to the other park.

okay, I think it is coming back to me now...boy the things you can forget in 7 years, lol. you monorail, you go through some resorts and then to TTC (or vice versa) do the switch and then to Epcot...I think something is jogging around in my brain...it sounds familiar :rotfl:

Trying to plan our arrival day, which is a MNSSHP day so we are pretty bummed there won't be fireworks at MK for us non party goers that night, our first night :( But my DH still wants to go to MK first thing and end up at Epcot for Illuminations...trying to get it all figured out and throw eating in there too.

Out of sheer curiousity...how long is the monorail ride from MK to eventually Epcot? Not worried about it being lengthy...just trying to figure out dinner.

TIA!

If you are having dinner at EPCOT - World Showcase, your best bet would be to take a bus from MK to BWI and then walk. It would probably take 20 minutes or so for the ride and walk, but you would probably have to walk about a mile less....

walk a mile less? please explain.

And, I really think we will just do a counter service for dinner. I was thinking, I didn't really want to put a time constraint that evening since it will be our travel day and we will have already been under time constraints, kwim? I wanted to do Chef Mickey, and then I thought the Storybook Princess Dinner...but I am just feeling it will be too close time wise to do MK then a table service meal where ever and then see Illuminations inside Epcot by 9pm. But, the best route is great to know and I already have it down on my notes so I will know for in the future - thank you.

Boy, the pressure really builds up as you approach that 90 day mark doesn't it? I feel like I need to know everything, yet I feel as though I know nothing...lol.

I'm guessing that the walk from the monorail entrance to, say Japan, in the World Showcase is 1.5 miles and that the walk from the Boardwalk to the same place is .5 miles. I might be off a bit, but I think it's a good estimation.

I was under the impression that you'd be doing dinner @ EPCOT.

Ah...I see where the less walking comes in.

And, not your fault, i was in fact talking about eating and dinner. I was really wanting to do a table service, and if it was just me and DH we probably would and could, but us and our 3 year old just makes me nervous thinking about the "what-if's" which I am super bad at doing.

Actually if DH wasn't so heck-bent on seeing some fireworks our first night we would indeed be having a nice leisurely sit down meal at the end of the day. But, its what we did the first night of our Honeymoon, and its what he wants to do our first night there as a family too.

Hey, Happy early Anniversary! Mine is also in August..16th to be exact.

Will you have your own car or a rental car with you? If so, I would suggest using it over the buses. We usually go to EPCOT then hop on the monorail to MK. As mentioned earlier, you can boat between EPCOT and MGM, so technically you could park at one park and get to 3 different ones without using a car or a bus. AK just sits off all by itself. I just think having a car and driving is easier. Hate waiting for buses!

Hey Neighbor! I am just to the west of you in Winston! Love love love your Avitar! Let's go HEELS!

Anyways, we would have had a car, however that last DING from RDU to MCO clinched the deal that we would be flying down...as we would have been renting a vehicle anyways and we could fly and skip the 10-14 hour drive and actually spend *less* money on flying. Funny thing is is that now my 3yo thinks WDW is in the sky...its actually pretty cute. :rotfl:

Howdy back! And Go Heels!! We have flown and driven. If the flight goes good, it's great. However, I hate trusting the airlines, so we drive now. It only takes me 10 hours to get to Orlando from G'boro, and that's stopping to eat and gas up. We would have to buy 4 airline tickets, so driving saves money on the plane tickets and the rental car. My wife has a big, comfy Sequoia with the DVD player and screens in the headrests, so the trip goes by pretty fast. From Winston, I would go 40 west, 77 south, 26 east, 95 south, 4 west. We get on 77 from 85, since we're closer to that than 40. What kind of flight did you get? I know there is a direct from PTI to MCO. We've also gone through Atlanta too.

Depending on what time you arrive, I don't know if you want to park hop on the first day, might get a bit tiring. Travel time+checking in+parkhopping is just too much.

I would just check in, and go to Epcot. Just do the back end of Epcot (World Showcase). Walk leisurely, take in some shows, relax, have dinner, in the showcase and then stay for Illuminations. There are so many great table services in WS. Then get a good night sleep and be ready for an early morning the next day.

Then the next day do MK. MK is better done first thing in the morning IMO when the crowds haven't built up yet and you can get Fantasyland rides done with minimal waiting.

We have also, er, I should say that in the past I have riden, flown and we flew out of PTI for our Honeymoon. I was looking at PTI and can you believe the price difference on Delta between RDU and PTI is about 75 dollars per person MORE from PTI?!? So, we are flying on Southwest out of Raleigh, we got a DING fare of $57 one way. Unfortunately, we don't have a great long trip vehicle, I drive a F-150 which is wonderful, but no luggage room except the truck bed and my DH drives my old Honda which is also wonderful but has been through the flood in Greenville back in '99 and is almost 10 years old. I can't see selling it to someone on my conscious (knowing it was flooded but somehow that never got on the title) so we are just going to drive it until it dies. Anyways, we would have rented and it would have been more to rent a minivan than the airfare we got from Southwest. Crazy. But with a 3 year old who can't even make it to the zoo without having to pee...I'm pretty happy we are flying. :teeth:

I think the walk from the Beach Club would be shorter still.

In all honesty, this is exactly my line of thought...however, it is not my DH's idea to NOT go to MK the very first day and there is the part of me that doesn't know after months of buildup if I can stand to not take my DD to see Cinderella's Castle asap. IMO I would like to check in, swim, chill out and then go out...but, its all about compromise. FWIW...we are arriving at MCO approx at 11:05 am so I figure an arrival at Pop around noon. We will do a picnic lunch...probably. Or DD will picnic and we will do the food court there at Pop before heading to our park destination. I'm thinking we have time to visit MK and take our time...maybe not even ride anything...play that by ear. Not feeling rushed around is exactly why I don't want to do a table service restaurant this night if this in fact is going to be how we play it out. If we weren't doing two parks, I would be more inclined to make a ressie somewhere.

I actually wasn't necessarily looking for the shortest route, not for this day anyway (but it is good knowledge). After a long day I wouldn't mind the long route. DD will be in a stroller, so I am not concerned about her walking...but if the monorail ride is a good break - even better.

Does anyone know how long the ride is from MK to Epcot on the monorail?

Thank you all for your advice and info!

Ours is too! We got to WDW the last week of August b/c the crowds usually drop a bit - but it's our anniversary trip nonetheless.

Yeah PTI is more expensive. Some friends and I went to Whistler, up in British Columbia, to ski this past January. We had to fly into Seattle and drive up. We could've flown into Vancouver, but that a lot more. Anyway, it was cheaper to go from Raleigh, to Charlotte to Seattle than for us to drive to Charlotte and fly to Seattle. PTI was so ridiculous we didn't even attempt it. Sounds like, in your case, flying is the way to go. You got an EXCELLENT rate!

mk to epcot - let see MK to TTC would be about 5-10 minutes then change and TTC to Epcot I would say about 10-15 minutes.
