Sorry if this is a dumb question. I will be staying at Old Key West 8/3 to 8/9 with DH, DD (20) and DS (16). I understand the last boat ride back from PI to OKW is at 10:00. So if you stay until closing, do they have a specific bus to go back to OKW?

Also, I read somewhere that if I get a paper notarized stating that my daughter has "guardianship" or whatever of my son while he is on Pleasure Island, they will allow him to be there - in the case my husband and I (the old fuddy-duddies) don't want to be out late - they could go exploring on their own.

Anyone know anything about this? Does it sound strange?

Thanks -

Paula

There is always a bus running to and from OKW as well as the boat. The buses for all the resorts run until PI closing at 2:00 a.m. There are also cabs available. The bus will stop picking up at the Marketplace stop once that area closes. I'm not sure whether it continues the WestSide stop as well as the PI stop.

I don't know what the policy would be for your daughter and son. I don't think they could enter on their own since neither one is 21. However, if they went in with you, I'm not sure if they would be checked again unless they attempted to buy or drink or got into any kind of trouble. Chances are that wouldn't happen. ;)

The marketplace shops close around 11 PM so the buses don't stop there after that. The Westside stop was still closed in May and I haven't heard that it has reopened. Buses run from the Pleasure Island stop (Planet Hollywood) until Pleasure Island closes at 2 AM (I'm sure a little after 2 AM for the "stragglers")!

I thought that you could get into PI by yourself if you were 18, but I'm not sure. I don't think there's anything you could do to make your DD "officially" responsible for your DS. I've heard that they will say something if a child is away from their parents, but since you DS is 16, if 18 is the age when you can get in alone, they may not say anything to him since he probably looks close to the right age. Technically, it would be breaking the rules though, so you may not want to try it.

Official age is 18. They will want proof of age. And, a couple of the clubs are 21 and over clubs. DD is anxiously awaiting her first PI trip in December when she will be 18! :p
