My family has reservation at Wilderness Lodge for Spring Break, and my sister's family is thinking of staying at the cabins in Fort Wilderness. I've heard the transportation situation there can be a nightmare - having to take buses to eat, swim, or to catch a bus to get to a park. I'd like the opinion of someone who has stayed there recently. How difficult is it to get around? Is it worth it? Thank you!

IMHO, Fort Wilderness has the best bus service of all the resorts we've stayed at.

We just got back and I wasn't as bad as others have made it sound. We did rent a golf cart but we did have to use the internal bus 2 of our days. The transportation does run smooth but it can take a while. You do have to take a bus or cart to most places but walking to many of them can be an option (depending on your loop). I would just make sure that you plan ahead and leave early.

I hate it, but that is because 2 of us use ECV's and it is a pain. If you don't have that as an issue, it might not be so bad. There are internal buses and some of them go to the front of the resort and some go to the back of the resort. There is outgoing buses at both the front for Epcot and AK and DTD, and outgoing for the Studios at the back of the resort. After a short period of time, we gave up and just used our van to get around. There are alot of people that stay at FW, so we got some pretty nasty looks for using ECV's, but again if that is not an issue, I wouldn't worry. The boat to MK is wonderful and the buffet at Trail's End was great. There is also a bus that goes from FW to the Wilderness Lodge and back, as well as a boat and walking path.
