We are trying to decide where to book for our next trip to WDW. Everytime we go, we like to try something new!! We were looking at the Dolphin but I am a little concerned about transportation esp. to MK. We don't have a lot of time to spend at WDW since I will be attending a conference on the weekdays. Any help would be appreciated.
We have stayed at AS- all, POR, AKL before.

You will still be using Disney Transportation to get to any destination. For MGM and Epcot you can take the lovely little boat that is steps away from the Swan/Dolphin.

It takes only minutes to get to the Boardwalk area (or you could walk) and Epcot. You will enter through World Showcase which is a nice change. Only a few extra minutes for the boat to MGM.

Animal Kingdom and MK use buses, but based on where you have stayed before, it should be the same, if not better.

We stayed at the Dolphin in October, and I can tell you that we NEVER waited more than 20 minutes for a bus - ANYWHERE. Usually the wait was not even that long - especially in the morning when they know people are trying to get to the parks.

Hope this helps!

BTW - I think you will love this area - very serene and very convenient!!

Hi Julie- We're staying at the Dolphin the 12-15th of Feb. We'll probably walk thru EPCOT to get to monorail- then ride to MK. We won't be trying to make EE, just taking our time on the Saturday. Hope its not too crowded. When are you going?

Hey- we aren't going to be able to make it in February. I hate that because I would love to see you all. We are going in March but staying at one of the AS because we are going with my parents who would never pay that much for a room. When we go back in April- we are looking to stay at the Dolphin. We will be going the week of the 16th. We are going to try and do early entry though and that is my issue. I don't want to take a bus to the TTC and then a bus to MK. What we normally do is do EE then leave that park around 10:30 and head over to another park for the rest of the day. We usually miss all the crowds that way.
We are taking Lindsey's friend Kelsi with us to WDW (she has never been) so I want this to be easy.
Take care and have a wonderful trip- your time is almost here!

I seem to recall that the Swan and Dolphin have direct buses to the MK, at least they had them last year when we went.

That would be wonderful if there were buses. The only reason I thought was because on www.wdwinfo.com it states that there are no direct buses to MK. I would book in a moment with no hesitation if I knew for sure.

Julie- I know I read that somewhere, that there are busses to MK, just not EPCOT. You could always take a cab if you got desperate I guess.

There most definitely is a bus direct to the MK. It stops at the Swan first, then Dolphin, then BW and/or Y/BC and on to MK. The bus for AK does the same. On my last stay, the bus did not stop at Y/BC only did a stop at S/D and BW. You can always get off at the Swan and walk through the Swan to the Dolphin or vice versa to get a bus if you wish to be first on the bus.

We have stayed at the Dolphin twice now and find the transportation to be great. There is a resort bus to the MK and AK sometimes these buses are shared with the YC/BC and BW and sometimes they are not. The bus system is very fluid. We have never had any issues with transportation from the Dolphin. To EC and MGM you can either walk or take a "slow boat".
