I havnt been to DL in several years..must be about 7 or so???
Anyway I havnt been there since the new park and DTD area.

I remember DL as so much smaller than WDW (dont get me wrong it is still my favorite)! So I cant imagine how they crammed all that in there.
So here is the ?....it seems to me that you should be able to walk to any and all areas of the resort. I mean from any hotel to any park etc. Is this right? Or am I missing something?

I am hoping this is the case! That seems so great right now...being that we just got back from WDW and have had enough of buses and trams and boats etc. Not that I am complaining!!!

We are just looking forward to going back to DL!!!

Everything is very close. Once you are at the Disneyland Resort you can walk everywhere! The 2 parks are literally across from each other-you just walk out of one and then into another! If you stay at one of the DL hotels, you won't have to leave. If you stay offsite, you can take a shuttle from the hotel or drive to the Mickey parking garage or Timon lot (there's one last outside lot left) and then take the tram in. Downtown Disney connects the hotels to the parks, so it is all very "walker" friendly!

You can deffiently walk to and from both parks and DTD, as well as the onsite hotels. The only thing I wouldn't want to walk is the Parking Structure to the Parks or DTD.

<font color=navy>I actually walked from the parking structure to Downtown Disney & the Disneyland Hotel. It only took me 5 minutes from my car to the ESPN Zone. I thought it would have taken me longer, but I think it was actually quicker than taking the tram to Downtown Disney and going to ESPN Zone.

Of course, there's the 3-hour free parking @ Downtown Disney, but there are those days I want to play there for longer than that, and not get the extra 2 hours by eating there or watching a movie. :sunny:

Perfect!!
Thanks for all the info!!!

One other thing. It looks like the monorail connects all areas of the resort as well. Is this correct?

No, the monorail only has 2 stops. One is in Tomorrowland inside Disneyland and the other is at the end of Downtown Disney, near the Disneyland Hotel. It's fun to take a ride, especially if you want to go to one of those areas, but it can be crowded, and I think walking is usually faster! I've also walked from the Mickey parking garage to DTD. We like to ask to park in the outside "Pinochio" section, so it's not a bad walk across the street and thru the DTD parking lot. We've only done this when we are going to that area, though. The tram is actually pretty efficeint-you hardly ever have to wait-they come one right after the other. One tip with the tram-if you don't have a stroller, stay away from the front area, where it gets more crowded with people trying to get strollers on.

Also if you are sensitive to smells the avoid the front. I will get an instant head ache from the smell of the desiel or gas or whatever it is that the tram burns.
