HELP PLEASE!
Going to Disney July 30 - Aug 5.

This will be our first time at the CBR and I am really worried after everything I have read. One of my main concerns is the bus transportation.

I visited Disney two summers ago but stayed at the Shades of Green ..... Transportation was really great I thought. The waits were not too bad.

I am also worried about how big the resort is.....if I call the CBR can the gaurantee me a certain village? If I can't get in Trinidad North or Martinique.....I'm not sure I want to stay there. Me and my 16 year old son love the tropics.....he REALLY REALLY wants to be at this resort..............

For about $300-350 more we could stay at Dolphin.....but.....?????

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi there!

I stayed at CBR in May and used Disney transportation exclusively (I didn't want the hassle of driving on my vacation). I thought the bus service was great :p I never had to wait more than 15-20 minutes for a bus at the resorts or returning from the parks. The bus has to go around the entire resort (there are about 7 bus stops) before leaving for the parks. I didn't find this to be a problem. I don't think it took more than 5 minutes ... I have heard that the bus service can be slower during busy times (like holidays).

You can ask to stay in a certain village by faxing in a request to the hotel. This link will give you more info ... http://www.wdwig.com/cro1.htm They say nothing is guaranteed, but the staff honoured all of my requests when I went in May.

I've never stayed at the Dolphin ... so I can't comment about that resort ... but you can always put that money towards another Disney trip or other souveniers :)

Hope that helps :p

We stayed at the Dolphin last summer and it was very nice, just not very Disney! There were no disney soaps, no Mickey wake-up calls. It was just a nice hotel. I've never been at CBR before, but we can't let that Fairytale Package deal pass us by so I'm taking my daughter back (we just finished 10 days at Poly) in July and that's where we'll be staying. It seems fun and is very Disney. The pool looks like Pirates of the Caribbean from the pictures!I'm a little worried about the bus situation, but since it's just the two of us, we plan on going slower and taking our time. I'm really looking forward to it.

There are lots of rooms at CBR so you shouldn't have a problem getting your requests granted. Just call CRO and have them put your requests in your reservation and chances are they will be filled. We always have our requests honored and we just ask at check in. We used to do the fax but found our luck was just as good at check in.

Even the walk over the bridge from Jamaica is not a bad one. It is so scenic you don't feel like you are doing a lot of walking.

Everyone seems to have the impression from reading these boards that the resort is huge. Yes it is large but I wouldn't call it huge. We have stayed there many, many times and never had a long walk. A truly long walk would be from Trinidad South. :(

Many people are very satisfied with the bus service. Again the problem with the boards is that someone posts they waited a long time. For that one post there is probably 10 people that were very happy and didn't think to post their great experience.

You can't go wrong with either choice but CBR is a beautiful resort.

For more information on CBR I suggest you check out the links below.

We've stayed at CBR 3x and loved it. We stayed in Barbados which back in the day used to be the last stop before you left for the theme parks. The busses route differently now but I think we would still choose it because it is not the farthest from Old Port Royale, but kind of off the beaten path. The pool at Barbados seemed much quieter than Martinique and I didn't even know if there were people staying in Barbados, it was that quiet.

I love the music at Old Port Royale. You want tropical feel you got it. The Lake is great for boating too...you and your son will love it.

Just don't get Trinidad South as someone else said........

We stayed at CBR for the first time 6/1-6/7. We loved everything about the resort, including the transportation. We used the buses for all our trips to the parks and never waited more than 10 minutes. Usually it was 5.

Now, at park closing time, yeah, you are going to wait a little while, but so is everyone else. All resort bus stops are full, it doesn't matter if it's CBR or the Polynesian. The longest we waited at closing was about 15 minutes. It SEEMED longer because you are tired and your feet hurt! But it was not bad at all. Much better than I expected, really. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thanks so much for all of y'alls responses.

Definitely going to keep my reservations at the CBR. Especially since I am looking forward to having disney soap and shampoo in my room!! =0) That was the only think I did not like about the Shades of Green.....it wasn't real DISNEY!!!

Can't wait to go.....and I love the idea of putting that extra $300 towards another disney trip....maybe Christmas......well, one can always dream!!!!

Thanks so much for all the input!!

We stayed at CBR resort and loved it too. If you are still eligible for SOG you should be eligilbe for the CR miliatary rate. A friend of my DH is taking his kids in early Aug and got the CR for $69 a night since SOG is closed for renovation. You may want to check that out too especially if you are concerned about transporation since the monorail runs right through it. If I had the chance to stay at the CR for $69 I would grab it because it is so expensive otherwise. Have a great trip to Disney.

Stayed there twice last year and the bus service was great. We have stayed both close and far from Port royale and I thought the long walk was nice around the lake. It was a time to reflect on what you had done and unwind.

We still qualify for SOG but...the CR was full....so we decided on CBR...we got very good rates...just under $100 a night....that is good for CBR isn't it?

We've stayed at CBR three times and had no problem getting Martinique. I found the bus service to be very good, but keep in mind that I do not mind traveling on the busses in the first place. The bus does circle around the resort stopping at each village depending on which way it enters the resort. Sometimes we would have only 1-2 stops before we left the resort and sometimes we would stop at every village. This does add time to the trip, but again this was part of the vacation for us. I would add enough time to get where you want to go. A couple of times we even stopped at the Swan/Dolphin to pick up folks going to the MK. This was not all of the time but happened at least once every trip.
