Transportation at BWV

I have read that BWV is at the back door of Epcot so I know that we will have easy access to Epcot and MGM on our trip in October. However, I was wondering what the best transportation is for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom...bus, launch, or using the monorail to travel between parks? Please give any advice that you can since I will be traveling with a one year old and want to take the easiest route!

The only way to Animal Kingdom via WDW transportation would be by bus.

The best way to MK would also be by bus but you could walk through Epcot to get to the monorail. Pushing a 1 year old, I would take the direct bus.

Bus is the easiest way. The monorail would require you to go through EPCOT and it is a really good walk. You also must make sure your park passes are hoppers if you go to the monorail. If not, you can't go through EPCOT.

If you have park hoppers you can travel from the front of Epcot to MK or vice-versa by monorail although front of Epcot is pretty far from resort enterance to Epcot so you should take the bus to MK unless you plan on spending some time in Epcot.

We had very good luck with buses our last trip, they were pretty prompt, never more than a ten minute wait and we didn't have to stand once. But we've had worse luck on other trips, full of standing around for 30 minutes to catch a bus to get on one that was standing room, packed like sardines, with someone's stroller attacking your shins. Which is when we developed our affinity for taxis:

Taxis are going to add to the cost of your trip, but they are fast and efficient and always available at the front of the resort or the parks (out by the TTC at the MK). Talk to the bell stand and they will be able to tell you what the price should be and make sure you get into a Mears (Checker) cab. We've found ourselves saying we don't have time for the bus if we need to wait ten minutes - and grab a cab. Or saying we don't want to risk standing after a long day and grab a cab. A few cab rides a trip is still much cheaper than a rental car.

Rental Car: To us, this is a hassle, but a lot of people find the freedom of a car to be the ultimate in transportation.

Monorail: We often take the monorail back from the MK to BWV - the walk through Epcot is kind of long, but we see most of future world in "onesies/twosies" on our way through - or we pick up fastpasses for Test Track or Mission Space to use after a dinner and swim. In the morning, Epcot needs to be open to get to the monorail, so we've seldom done it that direction as we are usually at the MK at opening.

We just go tback from a stay at BWV. The only downer we found about staying there was the bus service. It was not that we had to wait a long time for the busses. However, the BW busses are shared with the Swan and Dolphin as well as sometimes with Beach Club too, which adds to the length to the trip. Every time, BW was picked up first, but dropped off last. It got a bit frustrating after a while, so we started getting off at the Swan and walking over the bridge to the boardwalk. On the way home from Animal Kingdom, the bus stopped at Blizzard Beach too.

The only problem I have ever had with the BWV is the bus situation. I have never had a trip there (and I can't even count how many I've had) where I didn't have an issue with the busses. It's a shame that such a great resort just get the bussing situation fixed after all these years.

Walk to MGM (find where the back stairways are located) and EPCOT but if you plan to bus it to the MK and AK, be prepared to get to the bus stop early.

Do not overestimate the convenience of Epcot and MGM to BWV. We have stayed at both BCV and BWV and spent a fair amount of time in that area even when we were staying at OKW. Walking to the International Gateway from BCV is a snap--Just a couple hundred yards. From BWV, you will need to walk at least double that. MGM is a whole different story. The walk from BWV is not by any means a short walk, but it is very doable for someone who is mobile. The boats are a nice means of transportation to the two parks, but get crowded and are a VERY slow means of transportation and do not have a lot of capacity. Each boat makes continuous circuits from YC/BC, BW, S/D, Epcot, and MGM, so you will be making one or more stops on the way to or from your destination (depending which direction you are going and where you are going). IMHO, for much of this, the bus transportation from other resorts to Epcot and MGM is superior to some of the Epcot resorts transportation options (though the convenience of entering through the International Gateway itself cannot be minimized).

It is inappropriate to park at Poly to go to the MK and that should not be suggested or considered as an option.
