I'm trying to plan our trip  , and need some help. I'm leaning toward one of the monorail resorts, but have a question. If we stay at one of the non monorail resorts (Beach club etc...), how far is the walk to get to the monorail in Epcot?

Relatively far. You would need to walk from your resort to the International Gateway, then about 4/5 of the way through Epcot, and out the front gate.

Also keep in mind, that monorail resorts have direct transportation to MK only via monorail. To reach Epcot via monorail resort, you'll need to change monorails at TTC. If Epcot is the park you'll be spending the most time at, I'd suggest BC/YC or BWI. You can walk to Epcot from any of these resorts.

If you're at the Polynesian and you want to go to Epcot, you can walk to TTC and get directly on the Epcot monorail.

For the other two monorail resorts, you'd have to ride to TTC and switch.

Other then the Polynesian the other monorail resorts are really only convenient if you spend most of your time at Magic Kingdom.

The BoardWalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club are all about a 5-10 minute walk to the rear entrance of EPCOT which lets you in near France. It's a bit of a walk to the future world section of EPCOT. You can also take a boat from those resorts to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The monorail is cool but as a mode of transportation it's really only one option among many.

Not only that, but from the Epcot resorts you could walk to Hollywood Studios. (The path runs along the back side of the Boardwalk. It's a longer hike from the YC/BC but if you don't mind walking it's great.)

Keep in mind that after EPCOT closes, you can't take the monorail back to a Boardwalk area hotel. You would have to bus-it.

But, I would choose an EPCOT hotel. We loved the Poly and we ate dinner at EPCOT almost every night. It was super easy. But I really enjoy the EPCOT hotel area. I can't explain why. Though I've only stayed at the Dolphin.

Thanks for the replies! When transferring to the monorail at the TTC is it right at the spot you would get off, or do you need to walk far to transfer?

I'll be going with two of my kids (unless my teen decides to go too) who will be 10 and 7 at the time. We'll go to all the parks except AK, which we will go to the following week when staying at Silver Lake Resort. If all goes as planned we will spend 5 full days at Disney to visit the other 3 parks.

There are no buses from Epcot to the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club or Swan/Dolphin. Access to these hotels from Epcot are from the International Gateway, either by boat or by foot.

If you mean from the Magic Kingdom, yes, there are buses back to the Epcot resorts...walking through Epcot after a monorail ride would not be an option once Epcot has closed.

I would recommend the Epcot resorts UNLESS the original poster wishes to spend most of their stay at the Magic Kingdom and keep visits to other parks at a minimum.

You have to walk down the ramp & back up the other side. We found it to be somewhat of a pain, especially on hot afternoons.

That doesn't sound bad, but I'm used to doing that on NYC subways lol.

We are going in Aug., so I was thinking monorail because of the rainy season. I really want to avoid taking buses as much as possible. Maybe I'm over thinking though :confused3 .

Not sure if you are aware, but you can walk from The Contemporary to MK. It's about a 10 minute walk. Just wondering though, has the construction there altered that walkway? Anyone know?

Still workable as of Friday 2/29 - after a couple of problems with buses from AKL to morning EMH's earlier in the week we decided not to risk buses for our early CP breakfast, so got a cab from AKL to Contemporary, then walked.
