Transportation AKL?

We are planning on staying at the AKL this september and dining at the California Grill our first night. My question is we will be staying for the fireworks at 9pm how difficult is it to catch a bus back to the AKL say around 10pm from the California Grill? This will be our first trip to the AKL so any comments will be helpful!

There are no direct buses from the Contemporary to the AKL (or, for that matter, from any Disney resort to any other Disney resort, unless the resorts share a bus route).

At 10 pm at night, you will likely need to take a bus from the Contemporary to Downtown Disney and then another bus from there to AKL. That could take an hour (or longer).

A more direct (but also more expensive route) would be to take a cab from the Contemp to the AKL. It will be a 15 minute drive and cost $10 - $15 (I think' recollection of cab costs is a little hazy).

You can simply walk from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom and catch a bus the the AKL from there. By 10pm the majority of the crowd should be gone and you should have no problem. Just double check with either your resort desk or with a bus driver so you will know when the buses stop running from the Magic Kingdom.

Another vote here for walking to the MK entrance from the Contemporary and just catching the AKL bus from there. It could not be easier. You'll need the walk after that nice dinner anyway

Hi,

We have stayed at the AKL four times and the transportation is great. But the WDW transportation system is not set up to get people from one resort to another. It is set up to get people from their resort to a park and back.

That being said if the MK is open late when you are there then just walking over to the MK bus stop from the CR after dinner and catching the bus to the AKL is the way to go. The concern with this plan is that the MK is not usually open until 10pm during Sept.

If the MK is not open late on the night that you are having dinner I would reconmend you grab a taxi from the CR to the AKL as that would be the quickest way to go. You could take a bus from the CR to DTD and then get on the AKL bus there but that could be an hour and a half trip instead of a 10min cab ride.

I am assuming you will not have access to a car during your stay since you are inquiring about bus service but if you did have access to a car just driving from the AKL to the CR is the way to go.
