Transportation AKL to Typhoon Lagoon

We need to move 10 of us, including 4 small children, from AKL to Typhoon Lagoon. In the MDE app if you ask for directions it shows a bus to Disney Springs and then walk from there. Can anyone confirm this is the case? Is the walk significant? Is it clearly marked as far as a walking path? The kids are 1,2,4 and 7 so it might be a difficult walk for the littlest ones. Trying not to bring a stroller but we might have to. If this is the case is there a secure place at the waterpark to leave the stroller?

I think that from AKL, you need to take a bus to DS and then transfer to a bus to Typhoon Lagoon, although it's possible that the AKL to DS bus also serves Typhoon Lagoon directly (I can't remember for sure). In any case, the Typhoon Lagoon bus takes you to the entrance of Typhoon Lagoon. There is no safe way to walk from DS to Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney doesn't expect you to walk from one to the other. No worries!

Tap the upside-down teardrop at the bottom of the page to open the map, then tap the arrow at the top of the map to open the Category list. Tap Transportation, then tap Walt Disney World Bus Service. Tap the icon for Get Directions, then find and tap the name of the bus stop at your starting point. Tap the up/down arrows at the right to make that the starting point, then type in the name of your destination (I don't see how to pull up the list of bus stops again - but it's easy enough to type in Typhoon Lagoon).

Using CarolynFH's awesome instructions, I pulled up your route - mine says there's a bus you take from AKL to DS and then you get a bus to TL. The only walking is to the gate from the bus stop?

For some reason when I did it it definitely showed a person walking and I checked it several times since I had a hard time believing that. I will go back to it and see what I did wrong! Thanks for checking for me. Much appreciated.

The first option is labeled Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the second is just Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. If you choose the first option it gives you walking directions from Disney Springs. I don't know why but it does. If you choose the second option it gives you the directions with the two bus stops.

It's actually more confusing that that - I just tried to duplicate what you got, and I couldn't find just Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in the list of destinations. I could only find Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and when I set Disney Springs as the starting point, I got the bus directions. But if I "accidentally" set Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool as the destination, I got walking directions from the DS Town Center, through the West Side and that parking lot, then along the golf course and ending on the wrong side of E. Buena Vista Dr. (I assume across from the Surf Pool) and no where near the entrance of Typhoon Lagoon. And man, I was trying to help someone with bus directions to Pioneer Hall and was amazed at how many bus stops FW has!

I find that it is easier to use the search then the map button. I hope that makes sense. So, instead of using the map and choosing the transportation I just search either the starting point or end point. You can then choose directions on the page about the place you are searching. You then add the second place. Doing it through the map and choosing bus transportation I couldn't even get typhoon lagoon to show up at all. It was giving me places inside of the water park. I will also say the directions aren't perfect. They only give you one choice. Like say if I was to look up how to get from pop century to poly to eat at ohana' or kona it tells me to take a bus to animal kingdom and then poly. I suppose that might be the fastest way but there are other options. I think doing the search method also helps when there are multiple bus stops or like at magic kingdom multiple boat lines. Either way the system is convoluted and confusing.

You have to take the Disney Springs bus and transfer to a Typhoon Lagoon bus there. Same going back to the resort.
