Transport to Poly for church

My father and I will be attending church services in Luau Cove at the Poly in a couple of weeks. We'll be staying at Fort Wilderness. I told Dad that our best plan would be to take the first transport to the Magic Kingdom and take the monorail to the Poly. Is this really the best method? Dad seems to think that there might be a more direct approach because of the church services. He thinks he remembers that from his last trip in 1986.

You might want to check with the Polynesian if they are still offering the church services. I read somewhere here on DIS either in the Disney Resorts or Community forum that the church services have been discontinued at the Poly indefinately. Of course things change all the time and this may have just been a rumor. I would give them a call first, though, before you go through the effort of getting there on a Sunday Morning.

Disney cancelled all religious services at the Poly, including the 2 Catholic masses, within the last few months. Mears offers a shuttle service from the POoy to Queen of the Universe, the closest off-site Catholic church, from the Poly. I'm unsure of times though.

Disney no longer has any form of church services held on property. Never really heard a reason why they were ended, but for whatever reason, they were.

Should you desire to go to a service, transportation is provided at a nominal cost via Mears. You can give them a call, and speak with them about arrangements.

Thanks for the information! I'll see if I can track down a website for the Archdiocese of Orlando for more information.

This is a prime example of why I love these boards. I never would have known that otherwise, and Dad would have been really disappointed.
