I'm sure many of you will have excellent advice! I am traveling to LA to visit my sister who lives in Manhattan Beach. I will not be flying into LAX - but I will be flying out of LAX on my way home.

My plan is to stay with her for a couple of days in Manhattan Beach, then stay at a Disney hotel (either PP or DLH) for Mon-Wed night since her and kids still have work and school. We (myself and 9yo) will then go back to her place for the remainder of the trip until we fly back home.

What are the best ideas for getting myself and child to and from her place and DL? I've looked up the metro and it is 2 hours one way to DL from the stop closest to her condo, sounds like the least desirable option. I could hire private transport for unknown cost. Or can I have her drop me at LAX to pick up the Disney Shuttle bus (a $48 RT cost, kid is free) - I am assuming that she can drive to Baggage area and drop us off (and pick us up when we return a few days later) to walk to the bus pick up area at LAX, so let me know if this would not be allowed or is not feasible.

TIA!

Ideal option would be to have your friend drive you to/from DL.

Outside of that, the LAX DL shuttle idea is probably pretty convenient both cost/time.
Another feasible option is Uber/Lyft. Private limo service, taxi, others likely $100+ RT.

Mass transit is bus, train, is less cost. But time consuming.

Mass transit from LAX:

1) Board free LAX bus shuttle to Metro Green Line Subway (Aviation/LAX stop)

2) Take Metro Green Line Subway all the way east to Norwalk

(Subway runs every 10-15 mins, reading past the timetable stuff)

3) From Norwalk catch 460 Metro bus South to Disneyland.

I'd rent a car.

Baggage level is pickup level so it would be simple for her to drop you off there. But I'd just jump over to the car rent shuttle personally.

I'd look into Uber. My brother and his wife went to LA for one afternoon and it was the best option for them. We took the Metro bus several times to Knotts, but it was 2 hours to get to LA, plus you would have transfers.
