Transport to Discovery Cove

Hi all,

Does anyone know the different options for transport from POR to DC along with how much they will cost and how long the journey will take? Thanks

You can get a bus (Lynx 50) from DTD or the TTC to Sea World where there is a free shuttle to DC (takes 1 min). The bus takes 20 mins and costs $2 each way.

As Kath says, if you take the Lynx bus (No 50) from the TTC to Sea World, there is a phone at the entrance to Sea World, where you can call directly through to Discovery Cove and they will send a car to collect you.

Your other option would be a cab but this would be likely to set you back around $20-$25.

U know in all the times iv been I never knew this !!!!! Heres me shedding $60 in a cab return.
Kath as I am staying at WLV is it best to go to MK or DTD? Where abouts is the lynx bus stop ata TTC and DTD? Never seen them

Yes, although I'm not entirely sure how long before opening time, we definitely went about 30 minutes before and had no problem getting picked up. We had to wait outside when we arrived at DC and there was quite a line but it was really hot and there was a lady bringing ice cold water and OJ to everybody.

As for convincing your DBF that it's worth it, it absolutely is. After 10 visits to Orlando, it still remains one of our most memorable and favourite days

At TTC the stop is in the parking lot next to the monorail where all the off resort buses drop their guests. (if you came off the monorail you walk straight out as though you were going to the tram pick up but turn left instead) As you walking into it just follow the path to the left and you will see the lynx sign half way down, there are normally a few people waiting for that one and the 56.
At DTD its outside the Hilton Hotel. You cross the road outside the corner of the market place then turn right and its there..

However, it seems from what I can see that buses to DTD do not run until about 9am? Any suggestions from anyone! Was hoping to be at DC around 8am to enjoy my whole day! Personally I would just pre-book a taxi the night before to DTD its really cheap, we did it when we had to pick up a very early bus to Kennedy, can't remember how much now.

Thank you queendisney! I know you said you can't remember how much, but do you remember a rough price as a guide? Trying to keep travel as cheap as possible since DC costs so much!

I was also wondering re: taxis to Downtown Disney and so had a look on the Mears Taxi Fare Estimator. For your resort POR to DTD (I looked the addresses up on Google), it's estimating $4. So as long as you budget $10, hopefully it'll be fine and you'll have some change left over

When we go to DC, think we're just gonna take a taxi there in the morning purely because it's early (there's three of us so can split the cost luckily) and then catch the bus back in the evening.

ETA: I also just checked the fare estimator for a taxi from POR to Seaworld/DC. Just as a very rough guide, it estimates it at $17. I think I read somewhere (might have been TripAdvisor), that the fare estimator often estimates the fare a little low and of course, doesn't include a tip.

Just asked DH as I think I was still asleep at that point when it dropped us of..he also must have been nearly asleep but said the figure of around $15 rang a bell but he did overtip as I do remember the taxi driver being quite pleased!!!! It was Mears also and def a lot more the $4 (I wish!) I would say budget about $10 as pp said, it is only around the corner after all.

Personally I think thats the best idea, its just too early and too much hassle otherwise. Lovely just to turn up by taxi all ready for a great day and then as you say a couple of $'s back to DTD and a boat back to POR..sorted

Apologies to jump in on this thread but thinking of heading to sea world in November on our proposed trip staying at Pofq.

To save money I was thinking of doing the bus option only
thing is as mentioned people have said the buses to downtown don't start until 8.30am. If like other years typhoon lagoon is closed for refurb will the buses start later ?

Another vote to get a taxi there.

As mentioned in other replies, try to get there around 20-30 mins before opening, and get a mid-morning dolphin swim so that if there are any storms in the afternoon, your swim shouldn't be affected.

Another tip I have seen before is to book the swim early in your holiday as again, if it turns out that the day itself is curtailed by bad weather, you would have time to go back again.
