Transport options

We are a group of 7 and are looking at having a 3 night cruise in the middle of a stay at WDW.

We will have a 7 seat car/van for the duration but doubt this will be large enough to transport everyone plus luggage from the Disney hotel to the ship.

We're all gold CC members and would like to board the ship together.

We're thinking of

1. Disney Transport (return) for everyone
2. Taxi & own car (split group between 2 vehicles but depart/arrive together
3. Private transfer (any recommendations?)

Any tips/recommendations of transport options?

Do any of those 7 require car seats? Or is everyone an adult?

youngest is 7 years old so shouldn't need a car seat

What do you plan on doing with your car while you're on the cruise?

And are you moving hotels or staying in the same one? If you're staying in the same hotel, I would leave as much luggage with bell services as possible and minimize what you bring on the ship and just drive yourself to the port.

Above is a good suggestion if you are willing to split your luggage. I'm not sure how that might work depending on the make-up of the group, maybe parent+kid share a suitcase to take and one to leave, couples share 1 for cruise and one to leave at WDW, etc.

DCL Transfers will be expensive for that size group...BUT it may be your best option if looking to keep together and arrive/board as early as possible. Guests taking DCL Transfers from WDW resorts (or Hyatt lobby) are automatically assigned early PATs/boarding groups.

I wouldn't try to split the group. You may be able to get private transfers for a little lower cost, but you'll have later boarding.

We traveled with a bunch of people on a van across country for a ski trip. The secret:

Soft luggage instead of hard rollers.

Is the luggage compartment an unknown size?

Keep everyone together. It’s only a 3-night cruise. That means bathing suits and cruise casual. Limit your shoe selection. Let most hold on to their boarding backpack during the car ride.

Most likely this would work and save time and money.
