Sorry, I posted to the wrong board before...
Hi all,
Quick story...
My Wife and I took a few days of R&R from the cold Boston winters at WDW last week. We are newbies at this and did not plan ahead and thought there would be mouse eared individuals directing us to transportation options to get to our designated resort (the Carib Beach)... Wishful thinking!
Alas, none were found, and the Mears desk was closed as we arrived rather late. We were wandering around for a bit, checking our options, and I asked a guy if he knew where the taxi stand was?
He said "No Problem, I can take you there, I have a no-show", So I think Ok, what did I get myself into? I did notice he had a transportation pass badge on him, so I was not too worried.
Before I can say no, this guy grabs our luggage, proceeds out to the curb and says "Wait a minute". Before we know, a beautiful new Town Car pulls up and we get in and got the best ride to the resort I could think of. We also got some great commentary on the parks, rides, and places to shop. My wife still thinks I planned it, but it was really ad hoc.
The price was $55.00 and we tipped a few sheckles more.
The taxi price would have been equal if not more, Mears was out of the question, and while I would have liked to rent a car to go offsite, the Disney transport system worked out really well.
In any case, our driver and owner of the company was Fabio (and he really looks like him!) The company is 2 Brothers Transportation with a phone number of 321-363-6300. They have a website:
www.2brotherstrans.com
Please note: I am not schilling for this guy, I just thought he gave really good service at an affordable price, was courteous (sp?) and I will use him the next time I vist WDW. I hope others that read this will do the same as well.
After our stay, and when we contacted Mears, and they said $27.00 each and 4 hours window to go to the airport... We have to get the early shuttle and wait as they pick up for all the other resorts. I say ********. I got in touch with Fabio and he had a town car waiting for us 15 minutes earlier than expected and we had a nice quiet ride to the airport and luggage service to the check in. Same price.
A few dollars extra goes a long way in my book.
My $0.02 worth
Tip: I got this from a CM at he resort. If you want to go shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall, but dont want to pay the cab fare from more distant resort areas... Take the Disney bus to Downtown Disney and grab a taxi to the mall. Is's about a $5-6 cab ride and there are great shops! My wife found a Armani original for $93.00. list price was $2700. She is tickled pink!
Cheers,
Freddie
