When we go to orlando, we will be staying in a villa which is about 15-20 mins away from wdw.

I'm sure that on some of the nights we will want to go to epocot and other places, and might have a drink or two.

As the last time we went, we were unorganised and ended up spending a fortune on taxis etc (we didn't get a hire car at all), i want to try and make surr that we know what we are doing so any thought on the best transportation from villas to these areas would be great.

I am looking at reliability as well as cost

Thank-you

Have you looked into hiring a car for a portion of your trip, or don't you want to drive at all? I wondered if you could set aside a certain period of time for nights out and hire a car just for that period. There are buses, but staying in a villa I think you will be too far off the bus routes.

Which villa community are you in?

I assume you have hired a car for the trip but just need transport for the odd night out?

I think you will be limited to a taxi as villa communities are not accessible by bus.

DH usually just drinks back at the room/villa to avoid the problem.

P.S - just seen you are in east lancs - i'm near Burnley

I can't imagine you have any option other than cab.

Can you not just take it in turns to be designated drivers?

We like villa stays, but you've definitely highlighted one of the biggest drawbacks. In our experience, getting back to the villa is no problem as you can direct the taxi driver, but they often have trouble finding the villas for the outbound journey. Don't assume that they know where they're going - give them detailed directions and a contact number. And then there's the expense - we've paid $100 for a round-trip to Pointe Orlando. Epcot would be less, but you're still looking at $60 pre-tip (depending on precisely where you are, of course). We've found that local firms are often better in these circumstances than Mears (a reliable and reputable firm, but better with the known tourist areas, than residential communities.) In the past, we've used Mario Mascarucci who runs Adriatic Transportation. We call him Super Mario - if you meet him, you'll know why! :teeth:

Are you staying at one of the Disney villas? If not, you want to consider as the price you'll pay for transportation will be equal the extra price to stay at a Disney Villa (Old Key West, Saratoga, Boardwalk) Buses are included and take you pretty much anywhere.:wizard:

Hi there. I live in Cliviger in Burnley !!! (I just got really excited there for a minute :rotfl: )

We are staying at the Southern Dunes resort, and we have hired a car, like you said it is just for the odd night out.

We won't be planning on needing transport a lot, but we are there at the very start of the food and wine festival, so thought that for that at least we would try and get transport there and back as we both like to sample a few of the different drinks.

Does any-one know any good taxi firms?
