TransMeridian ceases operations

Wow! We were real close to booking with TMA out of Chicago/Rockford and ending up on SW out of MDW because of the ding fare we were able to get. Good luck to all of you booked with TMA I know that is no fun we have experienced it a few times with Kiwi and Southeast shutting down and Pan Am pulling out of Gary/Chicago airport.

Since this was a charter airline the money should be in escrow. This happened to us with Southeast and we didn't have any problems getting our money back. Filed the dispute with the credit card company. Had our money back on our account in about 6 weeks. Our flights were purchased at least 3 months prior to the closing of Southeast and we still got our money back. I was told at the time we were lucky it was a charter airline, if not we probably were out of luck.

Great news huh!? We were to fly TMA in two days to Disneyworld...yes TWO DAYS!!!
Good news is we were able to get a flight for the same days on US Airways. Bad news over $1700 more for the last minute booking...

Awful news, however worked out. We had Thanksgiving tickets on TMA from Harrisburg to Sanford. Immediately called CC company. Had some difficulties until I asked to speak to a supervisor. They said that there were many calls from people in the same boat. The lady said that she would reverse the charges on my cc and I would see it reflected on my next statement. I would have expected nothing less....my husband puts all of his business expenses on this card and we have given them lots of business over the years. I guess that's why we got good service. On the flip side, we were able to get tickets for just a bit more, but we have to fly from BWI instead of Harrisburg (1 hour further from home) and we have to go into Tampa. I am very thankful, though. I could have been in much worse shape. Thankfully I saw this on the board today...those Thanksgiving tickets will be gone in a jiffy!

Did you have travel insurance? It might cover the cost of the increased fare.

Actually that varies by credit card.
The industry standard for true credit cards is 60 days. Understand that many credit card companies have and will, in similar circumstances, provide protection to some if not all of their customers, even though they are under no obligation to do so.
