I bought a small contract. I was looking at purchasing some transfer points. I own at the poly but would need more points do I need to purchase points from another poly owner to have a longer stay or can I purchase at any resort? Would I not get the 11 month booking window if I didn’t have enough of my own points but did have say Saratoga points? Sorry I’m a total newbie. Thanks so much.

Transferred points retain their home resort. So if you were to get a transfer of SSR points, they could only be used to book SSR at 11 months or they can be combined with your Poly points at 7 months.

Points always retain their resort identity when it comes to the 11 and 7 month reservation windows. Regardless of how you get points, they will work at 11-months out only for the resort to which they belong. If an owner of two resorts could mix the points to reserve either resort at 11-months out, the 11-month reservation advantage would soon become meaningless, e.g., huge numbers of purchasers would buy 25 expensive VGF points and 200 much less expensive SSR points and then make reservations at 11-months at VGF using all 225 points

They also retain their use year, which may not be the same as your use year

Yes, banking and borrowing have nothing to do with the home resort booking window.

When you get a transfer, DVC will create a temporary contract to hold the points.

It will then show as an additional contract when you go to book. It is tied to the home resort and UY of the points.

They work great at 7 months or less online. But, from all reports you must call to use them during the home resort booking period for those points.

Now, if they are the same home resort as you own, it might work online prior to 7 months.
