Can someone tell me how the transfers with Disney work in Miami?

Do they send tags and pick up your luggage?

Are the busses like the magical express busses?

Thanks- New cruiser

If your asking about transportation from the airport in Miami, I believe that is only offered in Orlando. I believe Magical Express is from Orlando Airport to WDW or Port Canarvel for a DCL.

I will be cruising out of Miami next year and from my rearch you get yourself to and from Airport to Port or Hotel.

Yes, you will receive luggage tags.

We have not used transfers from MIA to the ship but have used them from a hotel twice (as well as from MIA to the hotel) and from the ship to MIA three times. The buses are not the DCL buses used for Port Canaveral (btw Magical Express is different.....free transportation to and from MCO and WDW resorts). In fact, the two times we've had transfers from MIA to the hotel we've been picked up in something resembling a SUV small van. Buses to and from the ship.

DCL has told me you must be staying on a DCL reservation to use the hotel to ship transfer. Yes, the luggage is picked up in your room just like at WDW resorts and the MCO Hyatt.

As a sidenote, last I knew Fort Lauderdale is not an option for DCL transfers.

On my last cruise out of Miami in April, we stayed at the airport hotel the night before and used the Disney Transfers.
There are two meet up locations in the baggage claim level and once you check in at one of them they will lead you to a bus.
Since we didn't fly in day of we took all our luggage down with us, and they took it before we got on the bus.

The earliest bus leaves around 9:30am I think.
The buses aren't decorated on the outside like the Orlando DCL buses, but they play Disney videos during the ride so that was a nice touch.

We liked using the Disney transfers since we were already at the airport. We just had to walk down and get on a bus when we were ready!

I've not seen anyone being denied entry to the port after showing their documents. It is the only port from which we've sailed that asked to see the actual booklet. The only other place that has happened was when boarding the DCL bus at MCO (but not the buses from WDW resorts).

we like to use Disney transfers from the port to airport (MIA). We fly on an approved airline (American) so we can take advantage of on board check-in. We receive our boarding passes the last night of the cruise with special tags to put on your luggage. The night before we put our luggage outside the door and don't see the bags until we get to our home airport. It's great to not have to grab our luggage before going through customs. After customs we board the DCL bus to the airport and proceed directly to security. You sign up for on board check-in when you arrive at the port at check in.

Wow, this is great information. I have been doing research and had not read anything about DCL transport but now that I think about it, it makes sense. DIsney wouldn’t leave you hanging.

Thank you OP for posing question.

Disney does provide transfers from Miami, but not from Fort Lauderdale.

They will send you luggage tags, however they will not pick up the luggage for you. You'll need to claim your own luggage and then it will be placed on the bus that takes you to the cruise terminal. You will then hand off to porters, just like you would have if you drove yourself to the port.

The buses are standard coach buses, so not Disney decorated. As others have stated they will show Disney videos. However, the airport is very close to the cruise port, so there's not even much time for viewing those.
