My family is thinking of using the DCL transfer service to MCO following our cruise. I was curious how that worked. Such as… Is it first come, first serve for the buses? Do you wait long for buses or are there several lined up? How long does it take to get to the airport once you disembark? Would we need to disembark as soon as we can to ensure we make our 12:55pm flight? Any other things we should consider?

Sorry for all the questions, but we have a large family group with lots of questions!! :) Thanks for the help!

there are multiple bus .... the ride is under an hour .... 45 miles or so and all highway

in our experience they will assign you a time based on your flight time

12:55 is a comfortable time under normal circumstances <ship arrives on time, no accidents on the road 'tween port and airport>

was a while back .... may be that we had a later flight with time to kill so we were 'encouraged' to use a later time . . .

Just keep in mind getting through security at MCO can take a long time to get through(every time, 6 times we've flown out of there it's taken an hour or more, only 3 of us). You should be fine with your flight time. DCL wants everyone off the ship by 9am anyway, so you'll have enough time to get to MCO.

This past October when we used the transfers you just got off the boat and there was a bus waiting there. It was a very easy process.

They do not assign busses based on flight time, but they will certainly assign disembarkation group based on that. However, in our experience, they never call the groups when in PC as all the luggage is off the ship before disembarkation begins. In other ports, they call disembarkation groups because they are still taking luggage off the ship when people are getting off.

Once you are off the ship, you get on the first bus. It will depart when it is full. It takes around 45 minutes to get to MCO.

We just did this last Friday (2/25) and it was pretty smooth. The Disney Transfers to the resorts had an earlier call time but for the airport you could disembark at your leisure. Once we got through customs with our bags they checked our name off the list and had us go to the first of three busses that they had there. This was at about 9:30ish. Once the bus was full we pulled out and it only took about 45 minutes to get to the airport. The only complaint I would have about it is that the bus driver made us wait on the bus while she unloaded all of the luggage from the storage area and it took forever but what can you do.

We weren't flying out until Saturday morning so we stayed at the Hyatt MCO that day. I had added early check-in on my reservation which is usually at noon, but they had a similar room available at 10:30 when I went to check in so we were able to avoid waiting around in the lobby.
