Transferring pts for Grand Villa

My boss wants to take his family (11-12 people) to WDW next year. I was telling him he should look to rent points as that is usually a bargain compared to paying cash. In reviewing potential problems with renting points, I thought it might be easier to transfer the points into my account and then I would manage his reservation.

He is looking at a grand villa, which requires MANY points. If I am correct, I can only have 1 transfer in each year so I would have to find someone with that many points...correct? How likely to find anyone with that many points that would be looking to rent or trade???

Are there any other options that I should look at?

Exactly, you need a single transfer from one member with all the points you need. And they need to be from the resort you plan to book at 11 months out.

It is theoretically possible to get the points you need in 2 separate transfers by receiving transfers from 2 different UYs, but it requires a lot of advance palnning.

For example, let's say your boss wants to travel for Thanksgiving 2010. Let's say you have June UY, so you are in your 2009 UY right now. You can get a transfer of points from someone in thier 2009 UY with the correct home resort, then (except for Dec UY) bank them into '10 so that they can be used for reservations in Nov 2010. Dec 09 UY can also be transferred but you would not bank those points; they are good for a stay at any time from Dec '09 to Nov '10.

You can also get a transfer of 2010 points from any UY other than Dec. Any 2010 UY points (other than Dec UY) with the correct home resort can be used for the Nov 2010 reservation.

So it can be done, but may not be less work than just doing a single transfer.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

Thanks for the additional option but that sounds extremely complicated. And while I like my boss, I don't like him that much!:rotfl2:

I think I'll just tell him to pay cash ...more expensive but easier. I'll also recommend changing to a 1-Bed and 2-Bed vs. a Grand Villa...I know those can be hard to reserve with 11 month home booking advantage...I can't imagine they are available very often (if at all) for non-member paying cash.
