Transferring points

If you are transferring points from another DVC member that has a December UY at BCV, and you have BWV with a June UY, do they become your points and your UY? Anyone transfer points with similar scenario? Outcome?

They are supposed to retain the indentity they had before transfer meaning the December use year and BCV point nature of the ones you are receiving. However, as has been noted in the past, that does not seem to always happen and they sometimes end up in your use year and also sometimes as your resort points -- it is not supposed to happen that way but persons have reported in the past that has happened.

I just did this last month. I got SSR points transfered and they stayed that way with the same UY as they were. They didn't take me UY after the transfer.

I read another post on this topic.It stated that the member with the points calls MS with their member # and the transferee's member # and makes the transfer. Each DVC member can only do this once per year giving or receiving.Hope this helps.

If the points have not morphed, then you can use them just like any other points to make reservations. So, SSR points could be used to book at SSR in the 11 month home resort priority period, even if the member owned no other points at SSR than those transferred in.

Banking does not change how transferred points are used for reservations. They can still be used at the 11 month window, or not until the 7 month window, depending on home or non-resort booking for those points.

If your reservation is in the next UY for those points, then they must be banked before you can use them to make that reservation.

There are 2 differences between transferred points and other points: You cannot borrow transferred points and there does not currently appear to be a deadline for banking transferred points other than the last day of the UY to which they relate.
