Transferring points

I am confused as to what it means that there can be no compensation between members when points are tranferred?

That does not make any sense to me. Can someone explain that?

It means you can't accept money or any other type of compensation for transferring your points to someone else.

That's what's in the rules. In reality it's done all the time, and DVC doesn't seem to enforce it at all.

So transferring is really to be used for giving points as a gift to someone, or for giving to a family member, etc, to used to make a reservation for a larger group all in one name?

In other words, members should really still rent from other members if they want more points, not use the transfer option???
