If you are already a DVC owner, can you get points from another member for a fee each point and then have them transfer to your account? if so, what are the pluses and negatives to doing this? Thanks! I am new to DVC and am trying to figure things out.

According to DVC rules you can not pay for transferred points and they won't show up in your account so you have to have MS book your reservation.

They don't want to make it easy, they want you to buy more points.

There are advantages to using transfers for points, and while the DVC agreements do have language prohibiting transfers between members for money, it is quite common and one of those policies that DVC doesn't enforce, at least so far. Many suspect that the language is in the documents to protect Disney should a transfer agreement go awry, and Disney/DVC will not become involved in the conflict. The advantage is that they are then basically your points, and you can book or change your own reservations as needed. The disadvantage is that you could pay for points, and then the owner not transfer them to you, but that is a similar risk to having an owner cancelling a rented reservation.
