Transferring Points Question

Are we limited to the number of transfers in / out per year? Do transferred points retain their original use year, keeping the 11 month windows open to the purchaser of the rented points?

Apparently the rules have changed on transfers and you can transfer either out OR in as many times as you want in a given year but you can't do a transfer in AND out the same use year.

The written rules say that transferred points retain their use year and home resort status but the DVC computer cannot track that info at this time. That means they assume the home resort and use year of the contract they are transferred to. It is possible for DVC to work around this manually but is a real pain in the rear.

We just had points transferred into our account today and when you transfer points into your account, those points assume your use year and your home resort. We transferred in HH points with a Feb use year and I planned on booking a HH studio next June. But, as the previous poster explained the computer does not recognize the points as HH points. I have to wait until the 7 month window to book the studio. There was no mention of a manual workaround pain or otherwise. I was just told they are now June use year with BCV as home resort.

I'd call them and ask at the 11 month window and ask if they can do it manually using the HH home resort priority. I know they can, but will they is the question. If you start quoting the POS and the fact you know they can, I bet they will.

One more question on this topic. I have heard you can bank points once they are transferred. How does this work with your banking deadlines, considering you now have more than your annual allotment of points to consider? Does that make sense? Say you have 4 months left in your use year, and have already banked 25% of your points, can you bank the new points, as they are not part of your contract or not? I am even confusing myself here.

Frankly, I've never though about it. I wonder if the most you can bank is your yearly allotment or if they adjust your 100% to your owned amount plus the transfer for that year. Interesting questions and I'm surprised my devious mind hasn't pondered it before.
