Hi. We are thinking about selling some points and would like to do so to another DVC Member. Instead of securing a reservation for them we thought it would be better just to get payment for points and then transfer the points to their account. Now how would I go about doing this, securing my payment. What's the procedure? Does someone have some kind of contract/agreement for the sale of transferred points? We have never sold any points and would like to sell some of our points.

If you have an agreement/contract that I could use or any suggestions, please e-mail me at "rorobou@netzero.net". Thanks for all your help.

Are you talking about selling or renting your points? Renting points to another member should be just about as simple as a "standard" rental agreement, detail rights and recourse of both parties.

Remember you can only transfer current use year points meaning not banked and not borrowed. If they are current points why not just bank them and use them next use year? If you do transfer, make sure you get payment first as you have no protection otherwise.

Yes we are thinking instead of banking our points that we would rent them to a DVC member and just do a transfer instead of making reservations, etc. Our only concern is just how do we protect our investment. I don't want to transfer any points without a guarantee that we will be paid for the points transferred out.

Since I am new to all to renting out points, I would think that there would need to be some legal contract to protect both sides of their investment...the buyer and the seller.

Could someone who has had experience doing this e-mail me how they did it and their agreement?

Thanks for all your help. Please e-mail me at "rorobou@netzero.net".

I have "rented" pts from several other DVC members, and I always pay BEFORE the transaction takes place. You need ot have compatible use yrs also to do a direct tranfer.

But, once you get payment, you can call and I think now you also need ot have somehting in writing to DVC authorizing the transfer from your acct to another DVC members acct. Then they do the magic of transfering the pts and thats it!

what is your use yr??? Are you still looking for someone to "rent" your pts?

Thanks!:) :bounce:

It is against DVC rules to exchange money for transferring points, so do not mention anything to member services about the money. Of course it happens all the time. I think they put that in so that they would not become involved in any member disputes.

I think thats a no-brainer there Debbie! They dont ask you if someone paid you for your pts or when you use them from a transfer they dont ask you if you paid for them either. Thanks for your concern anyway......................

related questions:

is it the transferer or the transferee that needs to contact MS with something in writing to authorize the transfer?

isn't it a security issue to give someone else your Member#?

couldn't someone "write up" an unauthorized transfer request a few months later when you're not paying attention, and next thing you know, you call up MS and some points were transferred away w/o your knowledge?

what does MS use as positive identification and authorization for the transfer to go forward? what does MS do to prevent fraudulent transfer requests?

(i know i'm being super paranoid, but i've had one too many fraud experiences, so these things concern me)

Disneyberry's member I.D. concerns have crossed my mind too!
