I thinking about getting a points transfer since we are out of points.
I want to make sure I have everything sorted out b4 I buy.

So how do u protect yourself ? How does it work?
How is the safest way to pay. I would hate to pay and then they not do a transfer.

When I book using those points I need to call and do it by phone because they won't be in my online account ? Right

If I use a combination of my points and the transferred in points can it go into one reservation , it would be a 7 month reservation.

Thanks

I details of the transfer are up to the owner. It's important to find someone you are comfortable with. You can do a three way call if that's agreeable to both. I recently did a transfer but I asked for payment upfront via Paypal. Some will do it for 1/2. It just depends.

Once you have the points, they will only show up online if they are the same UY and resort of what your own. If not, then you will have to call but they can be combined with your points at 7 months.

FYI if doing a 3 way call, you can not receive compensation for transfers per DVC guidelines.

If you go through Paypal as you would a purchase, I feel that it covers you. Either you would have to pay the additional fees or split.

Also look for someone who's rented frequently, not a new person.

Be sure you know all the important rules:
- can only transfer once each UY.
- can only transfer current UY points, not banked or future UY

If you are booking 7mons at a popular resort at a popular time, you might want to consider getting a transfer that's the same resort/UY so you can book online.

Paypal won't cover you for timeshares.

Question for you expert transfer people.

I want two nights at GFV, next June. IF I get point transfer for 2014 points, regardless of use year, can I book at 11 months (yea, yea, I know it'll be more like 8-9 months). I have ten people so I need the lock offs. I've been watching the 7 month booking (yep I know that's March), to get a feel on what is available and for the last two months, only dedicated (both standard and lake view) are available...so thinking perhaps a transfer and rent out my BCV or VWL points may be a better option. The two nights are at the end of a 13 day trip, so kinda a wish list not a firm need. I have the last day booked for GV HH at OKW. We would just stay a day longer, and drop the last night at OKW. :confused3

I see now: the lock offs sleep 10, but the dedicated 2BRs sleep 9? Hmm, that's difficult to plan, because you really don't know how many lock offs they'll put into availability, versus splitting them. Before I did a transfer, I'd want to know that a lock off was available.

If you get 2014 points with a UY after June, you couldn't use them for a June 2014 reservation because you would need to borrow them and you can't borrow transferred points. You can bank them, though.
