Transferring points between contracts

I'm trying to understand the points transferring rules before I take the plunge on a resale... Hoping someone can help out...

- I currently have a contract (with a few add-ons) under one Membership with a Use Year of October.

- I have a separate contract under a separate Membership, also with a Use Year of October.

- I am contemplating a third contract, it has a use Year of August.

I know this will be more work to administer than a 'normal' situation, but I was thinking I would (once per year) transfer the points from Membership #2 and Membership #3 over to Membership #1...

Will I be able to do that?

I know that there is a '1 transfer per year either in/out' rule. Under that rule, I am sure I can transfer *out* from Membership #2 and then Membership #3 without any problem. But, will this rule prevent Membership #1 from *receiving* the two transfers?

TIA, Jeff

I am not an expert, but I believe this will not be allowed. The problem is that they are all "master contracts" as in they were bought seperately through resale and not add ons from Disney. So in essence these are the equivalent of three different people owning contracts trying to transfer all the points into one.

Unless one of the contracts was added on via Disney, in which case those points could be transfered, if I am not mistaken.

correct, contract #1 cannot receive 2 transfers.

if one of the contracts were an add-on, then it would be under the same membership number - and therefore, no transfer would be necessary.

No - transferring points from either contract into #1 would use up the "one transfer per year" for that contract.

However, if you are wanting to combine points from 3 contracts for something like a cruise MS will often be able to do that.

If you are wanting to combine the points for a DVC reservation, you can simply reserve individual nights from each contract and MS will link them all together.

I bought a resale and will be looking to purchase ad on from Disney. I want a different property. Is that two master contracts? What would be my transfer rule??

Buy the same UY and title the property the same and it will be a add on contract. We currently have two different UYs and it is a real pain. We will be selling our April contracts to make life easier.

If you add on through Disney they will only sell you the same Use Year but you can add on points at any resort. It will be an "add on" to your current master contract -- same contract number with a ".001" extension. You cannot (and do not have to) transfer points between a master and one of its add-ons or between add-ons -- you just combine the points as needed to make a reservation. If the add-on is at a different resort, you can combine the points to make a reservation 7 months out. You cannot use points from your resort A contract to book at resort B in the 11-month window even if you also own a contract at resort B.

Basically, if you are the same owner on multiple master contracts, there is no point in transferring from one to the other. As LisaS stated, they retain their original resort and use year, therefore can only be combined at the 7 month window anyway.
