Hi All! We have upcoming reservations at WL but recently booked a night at All Star Music for the day we arrive (which is late in the evening). We will be using Disney's Magical Express to get to the resort but are wondering how we make the transfer to WL the next day? Do we need to do anything ahead of time to set this up or just let the CM know once we check in? Thanks so much in advance!

When you check out go down to bell services and get them to move your luggage, it's a complimentary service offered by Disney. It's generally delivered late afternoon 3-6 to the other resort, so if you need anything for the day your switching pack a day bag or backpack.

What @HatboxGhoul said. I'd stress the late afternoon part of what they said and definitely pack a bag with anything you need that day.

An alternative option if you don't want to rely on Disney and deal with that lag time is to taxi/uber to WL with your bags yourself. You can leave your bags with bell services there assuming your room isn't ready.

Have fun!

Just call down to bell services. They will come up and take your bags, write down the number of bags and where they're going, and transfer them without you having to take them downstairs yourself. They're generally available after 4pm. Take anything you NEED to have with you in a smaller bag, but I've never not had my bags available after 4.

A question for all those who ask Bell Services transfer their bags, I assume you have plans on the check-out check-in day that involves going to a theme park or Disney Springs? I would not imagine go for Bell Services if I just wanted to switch resort, as it would involve a bus to a “connecting” point and another bus, at which point the cost of Uber is so worth the convenience.

Or is there anything else I missed we can do between resorts?

We usually call down to have our bags moved around 10:30am and checkout of 11am. Then we head to a park. By the time we are done at the park, it's generally past 3 or 4pm and we just take bus/monorail/boat to our new resort and checkin.

Not sure if I'm reading your post correctly but you can't take luggage on a bus, so you have to have either Disney or taxi/uber to get your luggage from point A to point B. Sorry if that's obvious!

But yes, for example, in April on our "switch" day we went to a water park. Called bell services to come get the bags around 8:30, we then bussed to BB at 9. Left BB at 3 and got the room ready text on the way. We were in the room and called bell services for our bags 4ish. Worked great!

We drop of our luggage with Bell Services in the morning and ask them to transfer them to our new resort. Then we go out and play for the day at the parks or something that is non-resort oriented. We usually head to the new resort late in the afternoon or early evening and check in and pick up our bags. If we don't feel like hauling our bags to our room ourselves, we will stop at Bell Services and ask them to bring the bags to our room, or call them once we get to our room. They are happy to do this, but you have to be in the room in order for them to deliver the bags.

Have a great trip!.

That makes perfect sense! Moving across resort that way seems perfectly smooth. Thanks for sharing!

You are correct, bags are not allowed on Disney transportation (although some reported the monorail operators might let you ride with your bags, even though I wouldn't do it because I wouldn't want to inconvenience the other guests).

My wife and I are definitely spending half the days in the parks and half the days in the resorts while we go there, my question was to know if there was anything worth doing between switching resorts (apart going to to a theme park). For us, Uber/taxi is way more convenient, but I can understand it can be a totally different experience for people with other agendas!
Now that I'm thinking about it, connecting a Disney Springs might be a cool way to do some shopping while on our next split stay!

Ahh, ok - thanks. I thought I was probably mis-reading your post. Yeah, if we didn't have the kiddos DW and I would definitely make a day out of DS on switch day if we could! :-)

We are doing a split stay on our trip in 3 weeks. Our switch day is not on a park day. We are going to hang out by the pool at BC until 11/11:30. Then head out for our lunch reservations at WL. After lunch we will head to our new hotel (Poly) to explore and swim. I plan on having luggage transferred and just keeping a bag with our bathing suits and sunblock with us. We think it will be a fun way to spend a non park/ switch day!

That sounds like a GREAT idea to me. Also love the BC/Poly split!

We're also doing a split stay this December:santa::yay:. We're staying at the BCV then onto POFQ.

We used Bell Services them last year when we checked out of FQ and headed to the Grand Floridian for the Afternoon Tea as our last treat before we had our car service pick us up to take us to the train to head home.

Bell services was so accommodating. They took our bags and delivered them to the GF for us in a timely manner. Had to make our train back to NYC.
But this trip will be a little different.
On our check out day from BCV we want to go to DS and spend the day there. It will probably be a late night maybe 11pm. So my question is ~~how late will bell services deliver your bags?:confused3

we usually have a fair amount of luggage so I definitely recommend using Bell Services to come get the bags from the room and letting them handle the transfer. it's super convenient and a lot easier than hauling the luggage around yourself. really, the only 'challenges' is carrying with you whatever your going to need until later in the day and the fact that you have to be in your room at your new resort to have your luggage delivered to the room.

My understanding is that Bell Services operates 24/7.

It is. Someone whose second resort is a Value might have to pick up their own bags from Luggage Assistance, which is low staffed that late - but this doesn't apply to the OP.

We do this all the time, will be there next week at WL for a week then off to the Poly. We will simply call Bell services in the morning and have them come pick the bags up shortly prior to check out or at a time convenient for us if we are going out to the parks for the day etc... We then pop over to the new resort and check in. We call Bell services there to check if the bags are available and we can either take them with us when we are checking in or have them delivered. We always tip the bell services for their efforts lugging a million oversized bags lol... That way when they bring us the Garden Grocer delivery which is a small convenience stores worth, they take good care of it ;o)

I am assuming you tip bell services when they pick the bags up at the hotel you are leaving and also tip them when they deliver the bags to the new hotel?
