Transferring Half Marathon to Next Year?

My husband and I are registered for the half marathon, is it possible to transfer to the following year - 2011? Will they allow that?

We are training, etc. but live far away and financially might not be able to make it.

They'll transfer the registration, but you'll have to pay the registration fee again.

In years past the registration form said that you had until mid November to "cancel" the race. You would automatically be allowed the next year but would still need to pay the following year. This years registration form doesn't say anything.

I'm sorry to hear that this will be such a tough thing financially.

As far as I know it's been that you can be guaranteed a spot the following year, but you get no refund for the year you've registered.

Is there any possibility of shortening your stay and still being able to make at least part of a week? I think with all those hours away that would be not as palatable but at least it's something. Just thinking "out loud."

Thanks! I think you are right - this race is costing us over $350 Cdn and if we can make it for a short time that is better than nothing. I originally thought we could drive down which is so much cheaper but it looks like I have to get back for the next day for the start of a meeting. Maybe I can stretch that to getting back on the Monday, kind of a bummer to run the race and then get in a car and start driving... I will continue to see what we can do to make this work, maybe a cheapie flight? You never know....thanks again for your kind words and support.
