Transferring codes - what's been your experience?

This is so strange. I did not get any postcards or emails with codes. Two friends did, though, and shared the PINS with me as neither were planning to travel during the applicable dates.

I applied one to my reservation and got the discount with no problem. I just called to apply the other to my parents' reservation for the same hotel, same dates and was told that the PIN code I supplied was not assigned to their family and could not be used.

So what's the deal? Do most CMs let you transfer them? Is it worth calling back hoping for another one to try again?

I know I know...using someone else's code is probably against the rules and someone will probably feel the need alert me. :thumbsup2 I got it. I just can't at least try to get a discount.

No they dont, and Im sure the first CM got written up for doing it and the discount may be removed.

Maybe you actually did have a code attached to your name/address and were therefore able to use a code (but not the friend's pin)...and the CM who did your discount didn't explain it.

Call again and see if your parents have a code attached to their names/address. Good luck!

I was going to say that I tried that when I still lived at home, my mom got a code and was not going to be travelling, in fact I believe that I just really wanted to see what the discounts were. We had the same address but they would not let me apply it because she would not be coming with me, eventhough we lived in the same household. Then for whatever reason I just got a pin that had my moms address and my husbands name on it, we could have used it...lol, but our resort did not work

I'm wondering if I could call for her, explain that our friend gave us the PIN as she would not be traveling during that time and won't use it. I could easily provide their name, address, phone number, etc as they did, legitimately give it to us. And if they don't accept it, I wonder what they'd say if I asked how my mom could get the same discount? Hmmmm, points to ponder.

Codes can not be transferred, not even to family members. Hopefully your discount will hold, but if a public code comes out I would use if for both reservations in case they dont honor the code you used.

I received a pin code in the mail with my dad's name on it. I called to see if it could be applied and after checking with someone came back to say yes as long as the addresses matched up at check in. Not a problem since it's my address.:thumbsup2

Can't you book more than one room with the pin? Like say two adjoining rooms for a family of 5?

You can book three rooms. My friend got a code months ago and she is going and two friends families as well. The one friend is actually staying at a different resort....Beach Club was sold out. And all three families are going at different times....in the same week, but different check in and check out days. Disney said as long as they overlap, that is all that matters.

I wonder what would happen if the pin holder couldn't go at the last minute...to her two friends reservations?

Actually, when we booked using the PIN I referenced in my orginal post, the CM would not let me use it for multiple rooms. My parents are traveling with us, just not on the same dates. We're Sat - Friday, they are Monday - Friday. While she was super nice, maybe she was a newbie.

You may have had a PIN associated with your name, and just didn't know it. There are frequently postings of people who called and have available PIN codes just by asking. No one really seems to know how they work.

Regarding the multiple rooms you are referencing two different time period stays, while the PP was asking (I assume) about multiple rooms at the same time. They may have more leeway 1 way over the other.

Just my guesses.

You are allowed to book up to 3 rooms with a single code. They are NOT transferable, although if the code is for someone in your "household" you can use it and they do NOT have to travel.

Call back and ask, tell them you have read that you can book up to three rooms. Have them read the terms.
