Transfering points

I am a new DVC member and have a few questions regarding transfered points. I called MS but was unable to get a straight answer. My home base is BC but since I just closed escrow I was unable to book my vacation at BC for Sept/Oct 2005 as they were already full but did get into BWV. To stay an additional day at BWV, I need 22 pts. I see that there are points available from other DVC members but with expiration dates on the points of May 2005. If I receive these points would I need to use them by next month or could I just have them placed into my account to be used for my Sept. vacation or would they be no good for my vacation since they are due to expire next month? Also, would the transfered points need to be from a DVC member with the same home base that I have or can they be points from any resort to be used at the BWV? Can you please give me your recommendation on the easiest way to go about getting the 22 points I need for my vacation?
MS recommended that I just pay cash for the additional night.

If the points that are to be transferred are set to expire May 31, 2005, then that is when they will expire and you'll need to use them before that date. You might be able to bank them but then you'll have to use them after your Sept UY and before next May 31 2006. This might work out for you depending on the dates of your trip. I would call MS again and ask if someone transferred you points with that date can you bank them. I don't remember the window for banking points and what percentage if any can be banked this close to when they expire.

What you might want to consider, instead of a transfer, you could rent some points and have the DVC owner make you a reservation on the dates, resort, and room you want then have Member Services tie those two reservation together so that you won't have to move in the middle of your vacation. Just a thought and I'm not sure you can do that but might be worth a try or at least ask.
