Transfering points

I have have an October use year at X resort and I have someone tranfer in points from a December use year at the same resort. Is this allowed or do they have to have the same use year as me? If it is allowed when would the points expire? Would the retain the same expiration date as when they were in someone elses account or take on my expiration date. Also can I bank them? Any other information would be helpful since I am new at transfering points into my account.

It is allowed. They should retain their original use year, expire when they originally would have, you should be able to bank them. But with transferring, it seems what MS tells one person is different than what they tell someone else. But the rules say you can do it but you may have to stay on them to make sure everything goes correctly.
