I must say I never paid much attention to transfering points but now I have a question after reading alot of posts on the matter.

I have two contracts one at BWV and the other at BCV. They have the same use year.

I want to book 2 two bedrooms at BCV at the 11 month window but will be shy a few points. Can I transfer the points from my BWV to make up the difference and complete the transaction at the 11 mnth window? Or would I have to wait until the 7 mnth window to use my BWV points at BCV? I hope I explained this correctly.

You would need to wait until the 7 month window to use the BWV points, per the DVC rules.

What you really should probably do is book the entire reservations using BCV points, and borrow those few points from the next BCV use year.

Then, those points you were thinking of using from your BWV contract...bank them or use them for another reservation.

Use the banking and borrowing rules to give you as much home resort advantage as you can. That's a perfectly legit use of your DVC ownership.

I'd advise to stay away from the "morphing points" issue...the above process avoids it completely. :)

If your two contracts have the same base contract number and you only have one membership number, then one of them is a master and the other is an add-on to that master. In that situation, you cannot transfer points between those contracts. The points can be easily combined at the 7-month window without transferring points between them.

If they are completely separate contracts, then you will have a different membership number associated with each contract. In that case, the only way to combine the points is by transferring from one contract to the other. You can only transfer once per membership, so if you transfer points from one of your master contracts into the other master contract, you are done transferring on both contracts for the duration of your use year. And now that MS is enforcing one transfer per use year, I expect they will also be able to keep track of the true origin of the points so this may put an end to point morphing.

If you do have two master contracts, then I would do as granny suggested.

That is exactly what we do.

We have contracts at BCV and add-ons at SSR, which means we are under the same master contract number.
When I am looking to book BCV at the 11 month window and am a few pts. shy, MS usually reminds me that I can borrow from "next year's" BCV points.

Just watch out that you don't dig too large a whole in your BCV points for that upcoming use year.
I still like to leave myself room to make a second BCV reservation in that upcoming use year, if possible.

I guess that just depends on the size of your contract and how many points you have overall. :smooth:

And you know, I've noticed that we just seem to want more to have more points every year. . . .lol!! :goodvibes
