Just thought I would share that Chat is now able to complete transfers when you are doing them between your own memberships!

It was so easy to do! I don’t normally do this but I made some adjustments and this made the best sense!

No waiting on the phone!! Yeah!
 
Good to know. Seems to good to be true, though.

Do you think it will depend on which CM you get or have they all been trained and approved to do this?
 
I just transferred 27 points that we got back from leaving a day early due to Ian last month from our June UY membership to our Feb UY so we could use them next April. I did it over the phone with MS with no problem, but why don’t they show on my dashboard on the DVC website? Last year I transferred 6 points and they showed up as June UY points in our Feb UY membership. This year it’s not doing that. Should I be concerned or reach out to MS? If they won’t show like that this time how am I to know when they’ve been used? I figured I’d just make a modification to the reservation so that it would pick up those points. Will I have to have MS do that for me? Like I said, last year they showed on the website.

Also, why can I never seem to get the chat to show up. I’m usually on my iPhone, it showed there today finally, but when I logged into my account it was gone and I could never seem to get the chat tab to return. What am I missing?

The contracts don’t usually show. Mine never have. You only see it when you go to book something and get to the screen to choose contracts.

Thanks! That worked, I made a modification and just as you said that contract with transferred points was an option to select. I just wonder why last year the transferred points showed up on the dashboard, and this year they didn’t, and for you they never have? Oh well, Disney IT, I shouldn’t be too surprised.

Now if I could just figure out how to make the MS chat work…

Are hold times for MS still awful? I had to call recently and had a wait time of less than 5 minutes before a CM answered.

According to the other thread about giving credit where credit is due, seems like Hold Times improved a lot recently...

They have not been long for at least a couple of months except during the time immediately around the hurricane which was understandable.

I have found it depends on the CM doing the transfer. There must be a couple of ways it can be done. Would be nice if they all followed the same steps.
 
To transfer to another member, do you have to be on a three way call with them and MS? I remember I read that but then someone told me it's not true.
Wondering why they don't just create an online transfer tool for this.

Last time I tried you had to be. A tool would be nice. It was a pain.

They now require the three way call so they have it in a recorded line and can verify the info from both memberships.

I think an online piece would be difficult because it would be dependent on someone just typing in the number and could be prone to more errors.

I also know that they do verify your account has not accepted a transfer and that might be a difficult thing for the system to recognize.

I own another timeshare that has an online marketplace to sell and buy points between members. It's easy to use and convenient. Nothing stops DVC to implement something similar.

Except technically we can not accept money for transfers so it could have to do with that.

Personally, I don’t mind having to call because to me, it’s an extra layer of security.
