Just curious as to if you can still do this...was looking at purchasing 5-day Premium (No Exp) tickets for upcoming vaction and then selling the unused portion tix later. Can this still be done??
I've heard that your name is now attached to the tickets.
We did this when we went on vaction back in 2004 and it worked out great!

Just curious and couldn't find anything when I searched.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!! :earsboy:

No, you won't be able to resell your unused tickets. The tickets are linked to your finger biometrics. You get your fingers scanned at the gate and that info must match the tickets. No one else will be able to use them.....

So, I can sell them...just have to sell my tix with a clone of my index finger and I'm good to go!!

Well, that s*cks!! Last time (2004)...by the time I got done...we went to 2 days in Disney and one day at Blizzard Beach...then I sold the remainders on eBay...cost us about $35/person per day...very cheap!!

Well...there are 9 of us going this time...3 adults, 6 children.
We plan to do the same thing...2 days (hopping) at Disney and one of their water parks.
What would be the least expensive way to go?...maybe 4 or 5 day Premium tix (NO EXP) that we could use for the same thing in a couple years?

We also plan to hit Universal for 1-day...guess we'll have to pay full for those?

Any suggestions would be great!! BTW...Love this board!! :sunny:

I would buy as long a pass, with hopping/no expire, as you can afford. That way, you will have them for another visit. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my dh...since I'm a DVC member, I can get my AP for about $300. I always have one since I go twice a year, usually. My dd has one also since she mostly travels with me. But dh doesn't go quite as often. Which way to go..non-expiring park hopper for 4 or 5 days or an AP!!!
The other thing about trying to sell the passes after you have used them...if you try to get them replaced, you will be asked for an ID in order to get them replaced. The name on the ID must match the name on the pass.

Guess this pretty much takes care of people selling tickets on E-Bay. That's a good thing in my opinion.

I agree. Personally, I think anyone who has bought partially used Disney tickets on eBay in the past is foolish, as there is no way to tell what you are really getting.

Tickets have always been non-transferable, even in 2004. The biometrics were instituted to prevent people from doing exactly what you did.

While I do agree, to a point...as I would never BUY tix off eBay, for the exact reason you mention...
but I DID sell off the remaining portion of mine in 2004 on eBay...they were good tix, I got what I wanted, they got what they wanted, all was good.
But, I realize there ARE plenty of scammer out there and I can see why they have changed the "rules"...probably a good thing for all.

Disney didn't get what they wanted-the revenue they were entitled to.

I do respect your opinion...BUT, if you are trying to get me to feel bad for a corporate giant, it won't work.
They sold the ticket in the first place, which is good for X number of days. It shouldn't really matter who uses it.

It makes me think of used cars here in NY state...which I'm sure is common in many other states...
you pay sales tax on a new car...then everytime it is sold used, it is taxed again and again and again...
even though it was taxed in the first place...just so the state gets "their" money.

I DO respect your opinion, I just don't agree with it. Disney is still getting "their" revenue.
In fact, they are still getting someone coming to their park to spend MORE money on food and merchandise, etc.

Either way...I'll just need to keep the tix this time.

Take a look at the back of your tickets. First thing it says in the big paragraph is that it is "Nontransferable; must be used by the same person on any and all days" Then at the very top of the ticket, it says "REVOCABLE."

Nonstransferable + Revocable = What do YOU think Disney does when tix don't match?

the corporate giant has to make money on the sale of tickets or they will increase the price of the tickets (Gee, didn't they just do that the past 2 years, duh?)

Who does that affect? All of us dumb suckers who don't resell their tickets because it says they can't be transfered. So, it's not the big corporation you are screwing, it is everybody who pays for tickets, even you in the future as the prices keep going up. :teeth: :confused3

The above is correct, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what Disney does if the fingers don't match the tickets?

Word is that if you get caught using tickets that weren't originally sold to you (bought from someone else, etc....) , you will be asked to leave the park and the ticket will be confiscated. I'd rather just get my own tickets and have the peace of mind........

I have little problem with the tickets being non-transferable, used by the same person. They currently give such a huge discount off the 6th-10th days. My gripe is with the fact that they make it SOOOO difficult for you to find out how many days are left on these tickets. So we all go and buy more passes if we want to visit the big "Mouse House". Lets face it, just about any gift card will allow you to go on-line (or on an automated telephone line) to let you see what's left on your plastic card. So we know the technology is there to easily provide the info to customers. Can you imagine the huge number of passes that are lost or thrown away because the owner has no idea what value (if any) it has left? The right thing to do (now that they are assuring that tickets will only be used by one person) is to institute a system that allows you to check your passes without flying to Florida and waiting in some ridiculous line for some CM with an attitude (I can only check a maximum of 4 passes for you).

As for the cost of the passes, how is Universal Studios, right down the road, able to provide an equally enjoyable, high quality product yet ultimately sell their tickets (with discounts) for significantly less. My annual pass renewal at Universal is $106. (i'm not a FL resident), and multi day promotional tickets are available for $99.95 for 5 days (currently for 1 adult & 1 child ticket 5 day pass can be had for $99.95 total, 10 days altogether).

I don't think Universal Studios loses money so to say that Disney HAS TO INCREASE TICKET PRICES to cover the losses of say, selling tickets on ebay is plain silly! While I will always play by the rules no one should feel bad for Disney if others choose not to play by the rules. It would be more than worthwhile for some "watchdog group" to investigate how much money Disney makes on lost or unused days on multi day passes. Since Disney controls the state of Florida it would probably be political suicide for any politician to even hint at the question.

All of that said, I have gone to Disney more times than I can count and will probably go back (I have a pile of passes of unknown value which I can't stand to waste). I know I go of my own free will but when the day comes that I have used all of these random passes I probably won't be back very often. Given the choice, I feel better about visiting Universal, I don't feel so taken advantage of.

Think about what you are saying here...if I go out and buy nine 5-day tix...Disney gets THEIR money for the nine 5-day tix.
If I then sell off the remainder of the tix...whether it be on big bad eBay or just to a friend at a discounted rate...
the 5-day tix still have value and use left in them for what I originally paid...period!!
If I keep them and use them 2 years later, then they are NOT making any more money off me on tix during that visit.
What exactly is your point?!?

I don't know WHAT the tix say now...I don't have any in hand.
If those are the rules NOW, then so be it...I'll have to buy and keep for future use.
I want to park hop, but we don't spend more than 2-days (per vacation) at the Disney parks...
I really don't like tying up lots of money in tix to keep them for a future trip that may never happen.

I just pointed out what I had done during our 2004 trip.

Don't tell me Disney HAS to raise prices on tix...that's a bunch of crap...esp due to people selling tix on eBay...
They could easily make more money IN the park, just by simply lowering their prices...on everything from food to merchandise!!
Many people, as shown on these forums alone, want to know how to save money on their trip...ways to get around eating in the park, due to the high prices, etc.

BTW...I NEVER said I was trying to screw anyone...just pointing out that Disney is NOT losing money by people doing this...which is a moot point, now that they use biometrics to tie you to the tix. :earsboy:

The more days you buy the cheaper the additional days get. Disney does this to "reward" you for buying more days.

If you only need 4 or 5 days only buy that many days. Why should you make money at Disney's expense?

As far as comparing Universal to WDW there is no comparison when it comes to the tickets. You have much more to see and do at WDW than Universal. I have AP's to both and I go to Disney many more times because there is so much more to do.

They made it harder to see how many days you had left because people were selling their tickets and other things they weren't allowed to do by the contract on the back of the ticket. So like other things a few people ruined it for everyone.

You can always mark on the back of your ticket how many times you used it.

Disney used to be more relaxed on the distribution of ticket information, but due to abuses, it was taken away.

Why can they only scan x number of tickets for you?
- They can only scan a certain number of tickets per number of people present. This prevents wholesalers, and re-sellers from coming to disney with a stack of 200 tickets asking whats left on it so they can re-sell it with "verified useage."

Plus, there is such a chance for error if the ticket is not actually present in the CM's hand. Reading off numbers to a CM on the phone brings a great chance for error. On a lot of the tickets, the number 6 may look a lot like the number 8, or 0, or even 3 depending on how the ticket received it's wear and tear. Scanning the ticket magnetically is an error-proof way of reading the ticket, and exact entitlements can be read from the ticket. There are SO many ticket types, that a guest who says they have a a"5 day park hopper" could in fact have a 5 day ultimate, or even a 5 day pleasure island pass - You would not beleive the crazy errors guests have about their tickets!
-Over the phone and/or online is not availible for the same reason.

How hard is it to track how many times you have used a ticket? A simple slash mark on the ticket, or just remembering how many days your vacation is shouldn't be that difficult.
