I am about to receive points for a new membership number but same account (because the contracts are deeded differently). I understand I will need to transfer points to combine them. Will I just call MS to do this and transfer from myself to myself?

Yes…you will need to do that..but they will keep all the same rules in terms of resort and banking deadlines and once you transfer, you won’t be able to borrow those points for a trip.

So, keep that in mind.

I think you answered my question here, but this is so complicated, I'd like to ask you, if you don't mind, about my specific situation...
I have two contracts, one is a 150 point resale contract for SSR deeded in just my name (purchased recently, so has use restrictions with no Riv or VDL) and I also have a 350 point direct contract deeded under my name as well as my wife and daughter. Both are October use year. Can I transfer the points from my SSR contract to my Riv contract? If yes, would i call member services to do this? Also, since combined, would all the points then have restrictions or would each keep their own restrictions even when combined? So confusing!!

^Transferred points always retain their same resort identity, use year, banking deadline, and any restrictions such as resale restrictions, whenever transferred. You can transfer SSR points to the Riviera account, via contacting MS, but after transfer, they will still be SSR points in the applicable SSR use year, that cannot be used to reserve any resort other than SSR during the 11-month window, and will still have any resale restrictions that they had in your SSR account, including not being able to mix them with Riviera points at 7-months out to reserve Riviera or the new Disneyland DVC. And the Riviera points and how they can be used will not change.

One thing to note is that the single transfer per use year rule is not applied by MS to a member's transfer of points from one account to another account the member owns, and MS has historically allowed more than one transfer per use year in that situation. However, unless you are actually intending to use the combined points to reserve a pre-Riviera resort at 7-months out, you have no reason to transfer points between your accounts.
