Transfer restrictions per person or contract?

Do you know pls the transfer restriction (one per year) is per person (same owner) or per membership (different contract number)?

Every owner can transfer once, in or out iof their membership in one transaction with another owner, no matter how many contracts are in that membership,

However, if one has two UYs...two memberships...then one can transfer a second time. MS seems to now allow an owner to transfer more than once if it’s between their own memberships.

For example, I was able to transfer 3 times last winter. Twice between my own memberships and once to another owners,

Just to clarify a bit :

It's per membership (not per owner). So if two people own the membership, it's still one transfer per use year either in or out of the membership, but not both in the same use year.

... and it doesn't matter if the same person owns two memberships (maybe because they own two different UYs), each membership can transfer once. Note that if one transfers points from one membership to the other (to combine them at 7 months); then no more transfers are available, because one membership transfers out and the other transfers in.
It has been reported that MS has overridden the rule in the past to allow a second transfer between memberships owned by the same person. However it's not guaranteed and one should count on it happening.

Is the restriction per calendar year? I'm wanting to transfer points into my account asap, and not sure if that will be in January, and if not, when it will be?

• My UY is October.
• I transferred in April UY points back in July. We used those points already.
• Will I be able to transfer in more points in January?

@DisneyCowgirl It is once per UY, not calendar year. So, those Apr 2020 points put into your Oct 2020 UY is the only transfer you can do for the 2020 UY. However, if you’re wanting to transfer 2021 points (which have not been banked or borrowed) into your Oct 2021 UY- you can do that today

@zavandor Although I agree that we should not assume we will always be allowed multiple transfers between our own personal memberships, I do believe the DVC wants us to be happy with the ability to use (& combine) our points... so we’ll keep buying more!

I have chatted with one CM who seemed to think you could only do one transfer PERIOD, but he was the exception for sure! In fact, I’ve been able to transfer 3 times between 2 of my memberships this past month (just a few points at a time)- and one of those memberships actually had an external transfer into it as well!! So, I think if you’re ever told no, you just politely hang up and call back

When I did it last winter, I was told that the rules between the same owners were changed and you can transfer more than once,

I did it 3 times and all 3 times the CMs said the same thing. The third time was my transfer out of my membership and she did put me on hold to verify that my other 2 were between myselfs.

It sounded like it was a relatively new change to be more consistent in allowing owners more than one between what they own.

That's good. It makes zero sense to limit transfers for the same owner. Honestly I think that we'll soon have the option to transfer points online, it's consistent with their record of letting owner do more stuff online (first booking, then modifying, then using transfered points) and save on labour costs. So why not let unlimited transfers if we don't need to talk with a CM?
And hopefully, next step would be a points market online to rent and sell points on the platform (with a small cut for DVC). My other timeshare has it.

Yes, as long as you are transferring to the same membership. You can’t transfer some to one owner and some to another owner.

For example, I have SSR and BLT in my Dec UY. I could transfer points from each contract to you in a single transaction. However, I would not be allowed to call and send you BLT and then ask to send SSR to a different person. That would be counted as two.
