Transfer question

I’m planning a large family trip for December. Because of the rule not allowing more than 50% of my 2022 points to be borrowed, I need to find some additional points. A friend has some points he’s willing to let me use. His use year is August. If he transfers points into my account, will I be able to use them to make the December reservation? Does it matter if he transfers points he is due to get in August 2021 or if he had banked his 2020 points, could they be transferred and used?
His use year is August, mine is March. But since the reservation is in December, which would be within 7 months, August points are ok to use, correct?
Hopefully, I asked that clearly. The transfer procedures are a little confusing.

He could transfer August 2021 points to you and you could then use them in making a reservation at 7 months out from December

If the August 2020 points have already been banked, then he cannot transfer those points because already banked or borrowed points can never be transferred. However, if the Aug 2020 points have not yet been banked, he can transfer those to you and then you can bank them into the Aug 2021 use year (if you bank them by March 31, 2020) and then use them for the reservation made at 7 months out for December.

Yes, the August 2021 points can be used for a December 2021 reservation.

No, banked points cannot be transferred. However, transferred points can be banked by the recipient.

Your friend will need to stipulate which points he wishes to transfer to you and into which of your UYs. He could transfer any 2020 points that have not been banked to you and you would need to bank them in order to make your December reservation. Transferred points retain their UY, so August UY points would need to be banked by March 31.

Hope you don’t mind I’m piggy backing off of your question. I’m looking at possibly having points transferred for a trip coming up within two weeks. We have more people coming and now we need more room. I have 2 June UY contracts (AKV and BWV) so as long as I’m planning on using the points immediately it sounds like I can pick any resort right? As long as I have until the end of March to use them?

Correct. As long as whatever you get is valid for the trip, as they retain their own UY and not your one.

So if the trip is in Two weeks, it us to be points that are valid for that. So Feb and March 2021, or June to Dec 2020 UY points...
