So...newbie here. If I receive transfer points for my home resort which is VGC...does the use year for the transfer points matter or is it just that they are VGC points....or both?

Transfered points retain their UY and home resort.

:earsboy: Bill

Retain their original use year/home resort....or once they are transferred they adhere to my home resort and use year?

Thanks, appreciate the information. So ideally I need to find someone that has the same use year and home resort to transfer points to me....that makes it tougher. :surfweb:

No, you can obtain a transfer of any resort and any UY. Its just those points retain their own status and you have to use them based on that status.

So, if you get VGC points, you can use them to book a VGC reservation at the 11 month window at that resort. If you want them for another reservation at a different resort, you can't use them until the 7 month mark.

The UY will help you determine what reservations they can be used for.

So, if you have a June UY, and you get a transfer of a Feb UY, those transferred points would be eligible for vacations that fall during that Feb UY (ie: February 1st - January 31st).

When seeking a transfer, just try to find points that will be good for the vacation you want to use them and you will be good.

We are considering seeking points from our home resort later this year for our vacation in 2011 (instead of adding on) so we can use them at 11 months. But, the UY won't matter, as long as I can use them for my August vacation.

Thank you!!! We are going to be possibly short for 2011 so just thinking ahead. :thumbsup2

The transfer has to be from the Member's 2009 Use Year allotment into

your 2009 Use Year allotment OR their next following Use Year

allotment which would be their 2010 points into your 2009 Use Year if

your trip will happen during the date range of their 2010 Use Year.

You are allowed 1 transfer each Use Year so you can have points

transferred into your 2009 Use Year & if those transferred points aren't

past their banking deadline then you may bank them over to 2010 and

then in your 2010 Use Year you can get another transfer of points in

for that Use Year which would give you then

2 sets of transferred points in 2010 (the banked 2009 UY transferred points & the points

transferred into 2010 UY) .

As other posters here have said it's important to keep in mind that

even though you may bank transferred points those transferred points

still keep their original Use Year month & Home Resort affiliation.

Best wishes & hope it all works out :goodvibes

Not exactly. You are correct, as a member, you can transfer current UY points and the next UY points. But, someone can only transfer 2009 UY points right now if they are still in their 2009 UY.

For example, I am in my 2010 UY (June) and wold be allowed to transfer some 2010 UY points or transfer 2011 UY points.

But, those points would remain 2010 UY points (unless the person banks them) and the 2011 UY points would remain 2011 UY pints (unless banked).

In each case, the transfer would be considered the once per UY transfer for each of us.

I know there always seems to be a grey area with transfers,

the OP may not pick up the fine details on 1x per UY;

but idk I think that what I posted in first paragraph said as much as

you said above : 2009 UY transferred to receiving

member's 2009 UY and if 2009 UY

points transferred are not past their banking deadline then the receiving

member may bank those points.

The 'second transfer' I noted could only happen in receiving member's 2010

UY of like UY points if they didn't get 2010 pts in on first transfer

or 2011 pts if receiving member wants to take

advantage of 11 mos booking window those points would provide;

as in I am now in my 2009 UY now but you transfer me

your June 2010 UY points so I can book with 11mos window for May 2011

at your Home Resort; in September when my UY begins again I can

get another transfer of 2011 UY points to book in November for a trip during

October 2011 using those points 11 mos booking advantage.

:faint: Yes LOL MagicalDisney !! transfer particulars can make one's head spin !
