Transfer question -

I was wondering what is the rule for transfer - one per person / year or

one per contract / year.

But today, when I called MS, was told that it was only 1 per person / year....

I said can you please check (I have 3 contracts), and was told again no, only 1 per person.

So I don't know if something changed, or got an unknowledgable CM.

At any rate, right now I'm short a day, but didn't want to borrow because travel plans aren't firm enough yet to commit.

Well, maybe I'm wrong - it's happened before, LOL.

If you have a Master and 2 add ons (Master numbered ABC and add ons are ABC.001 & ABC.002 for example), then I agree with MS - to them that counts like 1 contract even if the resorts are different.

But if you have three totally separate contracts (different use years), then I am not so sure.

If you're aren't in a hurry to know, why not try sending your question to MS via email? Be sure to mention if you have a Master and two add on contracts or 3 totally separate contracts with different use years. You should get an answer by email so you'll have it in writing and if you mention that you've had conflicting answers, maybe that will clue the responder to get the official answer from someone who really knows!

If you do that, we'd love to know the answer, too.

It's one per Membership per year.

Do you have 3 different membership numbers (meaning you have 3 different member blue cards each with different numbers)? If so then you have 3 memberships consisting of 1 contract each. It makes no difference whether the contracts are the same use year month or different use year months. They're totally separate contracts.

If instead you have only one blue membership card, then you really only have one main contract which consists of a master contract and two add-on contracts. Again, that's just one Membership with 3 combined contracts.

That's the difference. Don't think of it as how many contracts you have, but rather how many different Memberships you have.

This has been my direct, personal experience as well. DVC recent language about transfers has been (delibertly?) vague and refers to members/memberships almost interchangably.

It seems to be one transfer per owner no matter how many master contracts you own, except if you transfer between two of your own master contracts, that is allowed. But again only once per Use Year.

When the one transfer per membership rule was first announced, it was one transfer in or out per Master Contract (Membership). It seems to have evolved to one transfer per use year per Member now. If your different Master Contracts are deeded differently, then each one will have a yearly (UY) transfer, the deed difference can be as small as one additional or one less name on the master contract.

This has been my exerience for UY 07 and 08 points. Also, they use the latest calendar UY when 'resetting' the transfer clock.

Of course, as with all things Disney, and especially all things DVC you results will vary, and may change depending on both the phase of the moon, and the DVC-Advisor you get.
