Transfer Question Regarding Timing of the Transfer

If I am looking for April 2019 UY points do I have to wait until April of 2019 to find someone? Like do they have to be in your account for a transfer, or could I work with member services and a DVC member now so when they become available in April 2019 they go directly to my account? Seems like a silly question but wanted to be sure. Thank you!

When do you need to make the reservation? If you need to make it in April 2019 for March 2020, you'll want points that you can use for a March 2020 reservation or points you can bank and use for that reservation.

You can transfer points that are in your current UY and your next UY so you could do it now. You would need to wait if you wanted April 2020 points.

For another month+, all DVC Members are in their 2018 Use Year and may make/accept transfers to/from the current (2018) and/or next (2019) Use Years.

On February 1, those with a February UY are able to make/accept transfers to/from their 2019 and 2020 Use Years but would no longer be able to accept a transfer into their 2018 Use Year. At that time, they would only be able to transfer points from their 2020 Use Year to another member with a February UY.

We are hoping to go December 2020 and will be short points since extended family is coming with us. So I wanted a 2019 point transfer so I can bank them into 2020 and have all the points I need by the 11 month mark (January 2020).

Since points can be transferred from 1 year ahead as well as the current UY you might even want to look for a transfer of 2020 points. Then if something came up with the trip you might have the option to bank them into 2021. You'll need to have them by Jan of 2020 and every UY would be able to transfer 2020 points by that time. December is the last one as they wouldn't be able to do so until Dec 1, 2019 when they hit their 2019 UY but it still leaves every UY as an option for that too if you wanted.

Otherwise any UY can currently transfer 2019 points out.

If you are planning on booking Dec at seven months out, you might not get what you want. You need to plan on booking your home resort at eleven months out. Especially if you want multiple villas.
